5Some useful pointers
By magellan
I've had my IPAQ for several months now and am extremely satisfied with it. Over that time I've learned a few things that might be helpful to to other users, so rather than write another general review, I thought I would post a few suggestions on this, especially for those that may be making the transition from the Palm platform to the iPAQ, (as I did).

The iPAQ saves individual Notes that you make in the sub-directory where you create them in the Notes app area. This results in them initially having a name such as "Work1, Work2, etc. (i.e., if you have a Note directory called Work). This is not very helpful so you have to rename them by doing a "tap and hold" on the file name, and giving it the new name. Otherwise you end of with lots of Notes with non-descript names with numbers at the end. Not too helpful.

For better power management, watch the screen brightness setting which you set from the Settings menu. You can also hit the "Q" button and pop up the Q menu and get to it from there. A lot of times you can reduce the backlight setting and save power and extend battery life. Otherwise running it at the highest intensity you'll only have about 3 hours. Also, in direct sunlight, where the iPAQ works great but the Palm and Casio units wash out totally, you can set it on "power save" mode

If you use the digital recorder function, be careful what you have the settings here. The iPAQ will record anywhere from 8,000 Hz, Mono, 2KB/sec, to 44,100 Hz, 16-bit, stereo, 172 KB/sec. You'll find that even the 22,050 Hz, stereo settings will cause even short notes to take up 300K of space. After a few of these you're out of memory and you'll wonder why. The default setting of 8-bit mono is okay so I just leave it there.

This setting is also hard to find and can be found under Settings\Personal\Input\Options.

I've found my iPAQ to be the best of the Pocket PCs out there. Hope these suggestions help.

4iPAQ or Jornada or Cassiopeia?
By Bholu
You have heard by now that a new class of handhelds - the PocketPCs - have hit the market and selling like hotcakes. You have probably even decided that you would rather go with a PocketPC than a Palm because you use Windows at work and home and feel happy with MSWord, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and the whole kit-n-kaboodle. What you cannot decide is which one of these to buy - they all rate so high! Well, for good reason. Faster processors and simpler WindowsCE system are making these eminently powerful and useful.

Price: Cassiopeia E-115 and Jornada 548 are both ~ $600 (if you go for the 16 M RAM, the price drops, but I don't recommend it). iPAQs are cheaper at ~ $500.

Processors: Cassiopeia (MIPS) and Jornada (SH3) processors are about the same speed (131 MHz) but Cassiopeia is a 64 bit processor. iPAQ has a StrongArm processor running at 206 MHz and noticeably faster.

Expandability: Cassiopeia comes with a Type II Compact Flash slot. This means you can put any compact flash cards out there, including the snazzy 1 inch IBM-microdrives that store upto 340 MB of data. Jornada comes with a Type I slot which means it cannot accomodate type II cards or the IBM-drive. iPAQ needs to add an expansion "jacket" to allow any cards. It is an innovative design that allows the main unit to be smaller - but you have to carry more components if you want to lug around more data or music.

Display: Only Cassiopeia has a true 16 bit display (65000 colors). iPAQ and Jornada are both 12 bit (1000 colors). Can you make out the difference - mostly not, unless you are looking at photographs.

Size: Cassiopeia is bulky and comes in at 9 oz. It does not have a hard top - so it needs to be carried in a soft case that comes along. Jornada unit is about as bulky as Cassiopeia, but it comes with a hard top so the total package (unit and case) is definitely less bulky. iPAQ wins hands down with a Palm like form factor.

Bottom Line: If you need dislay, multimedia capabilities and expandability - buy a Cassiopeia. Looking for a sleeker option with decent built-in expansion options - buy a Jornada. You need speed and sleek - look not farther than an iPAQ (remeber you need a separate jacket at times).

5No confusion here
By K. Wilder
For those of you are trying to find this very hard to get PDA, Keep in mind that the H3650 and H3630 are the same device. The H3630 model is sent to direct re-salers (i.e. Best Buy, Circuit City, Comp USA, etc), and the H3650 is sent to the online retailers. However, I've noticed on-line that you will see both. I've called compaq to confirm this. Good luck, and good shopping! I've been sold!

5GREAT!
By brandon
I wasn't expecting much at this price. I've some experience with technology and tablets, and the price was very low. Purchase was a gift for my youngest children (9 and 7, one for each). The display has good color and viewing angle, 5-points capacitive touchscreen - sensitivity was a little off, but not so you couldn't get used to it and it can be adjusted. Acceleration sensor lags a little, but works (this is what rotates the screen when you turn the tablet). Google Play and Flash Player were preinstalled which saved me having to fiddle with trying to find firmware that gives what we want, which as those weren't promised in the description I figured I would have to do. Onboard storage is very low, but this (4.0) build of Android allows you to move most apps to sdcard. SDCard is supported, and I bought a 16GB model microSDHC card which works fine. A USB 2 Go cable was included in the box, as well as a USB cable to attach your PC. Audio quality with headphones is good and without, good enough. Build seems stout enough for the kids, but time will tell. The cameras work. Netflix works. Angry Birds StarWars works great. Minecraft too. Videos, music, YouTube are all fine. Hulu didn't work, but they claim to be working on it. Battery life is OK but not stellar, maybe 4-6 hours of gaming. Websites all look like you would expect, and load plenty fast. eBooks are fine. Managed Google Drive and Docs just fine. WiFi works fine for home, but lacks some security features I would need at the office. You're not going to be doing any multitasking with this thing. The processor just doesn't have the horsepower. If you're used to the latest gear, this is not going to impress you. I doubt it will ever see an OTA update to the OS.I was amazed however to have such high quality fairly modern technology in a device with a price this low. Particularly that 720p video was so smooth, the touchscreen so responsive. It's not an iPad mini nor a Nexus 7. But for a budget tablet at this price I found it lacking nothing. If this is what you have to spend, this tablet is about as good as you are going to get in December 2012. Bonus: the kids prefer this form-factor to my 10" tablet, which I will now not have to fight them for every day. They say it's more the right size for them.I'm giving it five stars not for being the all-time WunderTab, but rather for being exceedingly great value for money, having no show-stoppers, under-promising and over-delivering (Flash Player and Google Play, USB2Go). I would even give this brand another go, with dual-core 10 inch tabs next year.

3Limited Compatibility
By A Customer
This system is only compatible with Nokia 5190 and 6190 cell phones. All other 5000 and 6000 series phones are not compatible. I would suggest contacting your wireless carrier and/or the manufacturer before purchasing this product to get any compatibility issues resolved.

5Works perfectly
By Mathematician
I feel compelled to write an enthusiastic review of the Socket DPC because currently there is only one review on-line, and it is a negative one for the simple reason that the customer's phone happens not to be compatible with this product---well, who said it was? Not the manufacturer!

I was recently on vacation in Chicago and a severe storm knocked out our power for two days. But thanks to my Compaq Aero 1550 Pocket PC, my Socket DPC, and my Nokia 6190, the one thing I could happily do in the dark was send e-mail and surf the Internet!

5Excellent - Surf on your WinCE
By A Customer
I use this product to surf the net on my Jornada 680. I can get 9800 bps, this is fine if you don't load graphics. I find that a site like Yahoo.com which is fast and has low-bandwidth requirements is loads up surprisingly fast.

You probably have to subscribe to your mobile phone provider's data service.

1Not as Described!!!
By J. Vizcaya
Amazon is sending out single rolls not double rolls! I compared side by side with a double roll from my last package and its significantly smaller. The package even identifies it as a single roll. and item number is 95868368 on the package not the 84846293 advertised on the box!

2Not a good deal--narrower rolls?
By Amazon Loyal Shopper
I absolutely love Amazon, however I am finding that items such as toilet tissue are not good deals. You can get 30 rolls of Jumbo Charmin (231 sheets vs. 175) for $20 at Costco, which makes this half again the cost even at the subscription price. The rolls are also narrower across. I'm not sure if this is typical for double rolls, but I doubt it. The different packaging makes me suspicious that this is not exactly the same product as the double rolls you would buy at stores.

1Deceiving Ripoff
By L. Jacobson
The picture accompanying this product totally led me down the wrong path. I was thinking that I was ordering the mega rolls that I am accustomed to. So when the box arrived, I thought to myself, "Self? This box doesn't look as big as I expected." Sure enough--10 packages of these measly little rolls that they are calling "double." Not so--these are no larger (in fact smaller, IMO) than a plain old regular roll. For the price ($29ish), this seemed almost too good to be true and in fact was! Never again.

4Old school martini glasses
By Bob Carpenter
At 5 ounces and change, these glasses are about right for a strong drink. Given the conical shape, you either need to have the balance of a tightrope walker or leave some space at the top. It's not uncommon to find 10 ounce martini glasses these days, but the larger size leads to warm drinks and inebriated drinkers. The larger glasses are also much harder to balance on tables or in your hand. Speaking of balance, I find the Riedel stems a little tall for my taste; I like a little more Thin Man and a little less James Bond in my martini glass shape.

As these are crystal, be careful washing them. Abrasive scrubby pads, the dishwasher, or even gritty towels will leave them scratched.

Martini tip I learned at my current job's cocktail parties: Dip the glasses in water and freeze in the freezer. Freeze your favorite gin (or vodka or whatever) in the freezer (the aim is to make it viscous when poured). Chill the vermouth and olives (or twist) in the fridge. When ready to serve, drop in olive, then vermouth (to cover the olive in my opinion, but it's your call) and finally gin. Stir (the classic technique, despite James Bond's heresy) and voila, a perfectly chilled martini with a minimum of hassle.

5THE martini glass
By Erica
these glasses are THE martini glasses. old school, yes - but the right martini should be about 4 oz volume-wise. we're talking a strong, properly made drink. these new-fangled glasses that hold 10 oz - WTF? no good. and a martini glass should be pure, simple clear glass. do not buy glasses for any liquor that are colored - the point is to see the color of what you are drinking - this is true for cocktails as well as wine. get these glasses because they are what martini glasses should be.

5Martini glasses

These glasses are superb in quality and appearance. The purchaser should be aware that they are of the smaller type of martini glass, more the original size, rather than the wide mouth styles you see in some stores today.

5Nice gloves but order larger size.
By B. Long
This is an early review. I'll update it after I test them out (or actually I will test out the new XXL ones I ordered as these were too small). I wouldn't consider my hands to be XXL (not even XL) but XL fit me too snuggly. I recommend getting a size or two above your size (I guess the euro sizes are smaller.).The gloves themselves seem like good quality and they look very cool. Should be nice for summer/warm riding. In terms of durability, I'll update the review at the end of this season (2013). But so far, five stars.

Product Description

What can we learn from a Riedel (rhymes with "needle") glass? That size matters, as does shape? That form following function has meaning for wine-lovers as well as designers? Or perhaps the deeper lesson that the contents of an outwardly "plain" glass may provide a more sensual, complex, and rewarding experience than those of a superficially beautiful one? The Austrian Riedel family has been involved with glass-making since 1756, but it was two centuries later that Claus Riedel conceptualized a glass made specifically to enhance the flavors and aromas of a designated wine. Through an involved process each style of glass is crafted to accentuate the strengths, while minimizing the weaknesses, of a particular spirit. This is done through changes in the size and shape of the bowl, the diameter of the opening and the cut and polished lip which directs the wine towards a specific area of the tongue. Small wonder Riedel stems are preferred by sommeliers and oenophiles world wide for their ability to transform the perception of a wine.

5A must-have for white wine lovers
By Lisa Shea
This was one of the first Riedel glasses I bought. I've done many, many tests on how wine tastes differently in various glass options and in different situations. Riedel is one of the tests that is easy for even beginning drinkers to see the difference in. The flavor is *amazingly* different when you compare the exact same wine in a Riedel glass vs normal wine glasses.

Even if you buy inexpensive wines, you will get much more enjoyment out of them with this glassware compared to other options. If you are buying mid-range wines, the difference will blow you away. Think of the Riedel glass as allowing you to see what the wine in your bottle *really* was meant to taste like.

This is a great first glass for white wine drinkers to buy, because it is fantastic for Chardonnays of all price ranges. In addition, you can use the Chardonnay glass for a number of other white wine types, and find it greatly enhances the flavor for them all. If you're a white wine fan, definitely give these a try!

5Perfect choice for all around drinking
By Bob Carpenter
If you only want one shape of glass, the Chablis/Chardonnay glass is the perfect choice. It's extremely well balanced, and the shape is well suited to swirling a full serving and evaluating the "nose". The lip is thin and the opening is relatively wide at the top, requiring less tipping back to drink than the narrower mouthed glasses, such as the zinfandel/chianti/riesling glass. These glasses are also less huge and seem less out of place with your average sized cutlery and plates than the syrah, cabernet or pinot noir glasses. The more rounded, narrower-mouthed zin/chianti/riesling glass (Riedel 416/15) is another good all around choice. I would not recommended Riedel's so-called "gourmet glass", the stems of which are far too short.

I dislike the largish etched logo, which Riedel puts on the feet of their glasses. I'd rather just enjoy my wine.

Like all other high lead content crystal, be careful when washing these. Any kind of abrasive sponge or grit will scratch them.

5Reidell Vinum chardonnay
By Paul Hager
They are big, you have to be careful washing them because they are easy to break, but they are the best glasses for enjoying wine I have ever used. I like chardonnay and the zinfandel glass the best for general use because they hold an appropriate amount of wine when filled to about 1/3 of their volume.

5Excellent system!
By J. L. Wilkerson
There are so many choices when it comes to surround sound systems. I went with Yamaha because they have a great record of producing really quality speakers and amps. That is exactly what I got with this product. The amp is great, much better than cheaper systems, the speakers sound very nice, they produce excellent mid and high range sound. The subwoofer is perfectly adequate and rounds out the system very well. There are plenty of HDMI connections to plug in your peripherals. You will need to buy extra speaker wire if you have a large space. I have a small living room and I still needed more. The speaker wire they include is standard and is pretty low end but gets the job done if you don't want to cough up the money for pricy thick cables. I used it and everything sounds great. The automatic setup and speaker calibration is very easy to do and balances the system nicely. For the price this a really great little system. The piano black is very sharp looking as well. I noticed several reviews comment that there are better systems out there; no you are absolutely not getting a system that does everything, but you know that when you buy it. If you use a lot of Apple products I would suggest to go up a notch and get the one that does AirPlay. If you have money to spend, sure go buy something even better, because yes there are better systems. But they will cost you and for the price if you want a really basic system that has very nice sound and performance I highly recommend buying this.

4Quality system
By G. T. Hayden
There's seemingly infinite choices of brands and setups for stereos or really any electronics product out there. I chose Yamaha because they were a brand that I know to be leaders in the sound industry. I have a Yamaha acoustic guitar that is really nice, I've heard nice things about their electronic products like this stereo, and hell even Lexus recruited Yamaha to tune the exhaust note on their supercar, the LFA.About what you're getting - the stereo receiver and the subwoofer are heavy and solid, the speakers, not so much. At least not on the heavy end. The construction appears top notch. It's an attractive system. All the speakers have a little gloss to them. As I said, the satellite speakers (2 front, 2 rear, 1 center) are very light, and very small for that matter. They sound very good nonetheless. It's a really nice system for watching movies, but maybe not quite as nice for music. The speakers are just too small. If you like to really pump up your music, chances are you'll find this system's limits. The subwoofer never complains, but the smaller fronts become overdriven and/or muddy a few decibels before I'd really like them to. Not a deal breaker though, and perhaps, though unlikely, with more fine tuning of the levels and equalizers etc. I'll be able to fix that.Like I said it's really nice for movies. Go ahead and turn up the center speaker right away if you're going to watch a movie, as that's where most of the dialog comes from and music/action drowning out dialog is a common problem with any system, including this one. The subwoofer seems to defy physics; despite having only a 6" speaker it rumbles like a 12" and has terrific dynamic range, again great for movies. Much more so than the Sony 12" I had on my old system that may be a little louder, but muddled and unclear compared to this one. I guess it's really all about the box it's in which is very, very solid and well constructed.I didn't get to try the microphone thing that auto-levels your speakers so I can't comment on that yet.So in conclusion, this is a very nice system that's geared more towards tv/movies/gaming than it is music, though it won't kill you there either. It's attractive and space-saving design will fit in nicely and tightly with your decor. You can buy with confidence from a brand that's been a leader in everything-sound.

4Great for family movie time
By William C Martin
I'm not an audiophile, nor am I a serious home theater nut, so I'll keep my review short on nitty technical details. I selected the Yamaha YHT-497 home theater system to complement a newly finished family theater room in our basement. The primary factors in my decision were completeness of the system, user and technical reviews from around the web (where you can find an abundance of technical details), ease of setup, and perceived value. The YHT-497 scored well in all respects. Setup was a snap. I didn't bother with the included speaker wire, as the theater room was pre-wired. I attached all the speakers and the sub-woofer as directed in the easy-to-follow installation guide, and it fired right up. The sound is excellent to my untrained ears, with good bass, good surround, and a number of cool effects to choose from. The surround sound auto-calibration feature is nice and easy as well. Finally, I appreciate the on-screen display, which makes navigating through the more detailed menus/settings a snap. Overall, I'm very happy with the results.Okay, so why just 4 stars? My experience detailed above was with the second unit I received. The first unit I received was faulty. In short, the receiver would power on for only 5-10 seconds before shutting itself down. No, it wasn't an issue with reversed polarity of the attached speakers (the unit offers automatic protection against this), or any other component attached to the system. So I contacted Yamaha customer support - which was very good and involved minimal hold time, by the way. After working with a support technician on the phone for ~10 minutes, the issue was identified as a short circuit in one of the boards of the receiver unit itself. My options were to navigate through the warranty repair process at an authorized repair center, or to simply return the unit for a replacement (with a recommendation to opt for the latter). Thus, I returned my original unit to Amazon for an exchange. I suppose I just got a lemon... it happens. The exchange process was smooth, as is the norm for Amazon. However, it was the initial disappointment, along with the hassle of repackaging the system and lugging back to the UPS store that caused me to drop one star from the review. Now that I have a working system, I am very happy with my choice, and very happy with the result. I have been using the system for roughly one month and have not experienced any issues whatsoever. Minus the lemon, my initial selection criteria have been validated by personal experience with the system, and I would happily make the same choice again.

5All fragrance; no fumes.
By A Customer
The three senses that partake in the enjoyment of cognac or armagnac: sight, taste, and smell are indulged by this glass. The amber of the brandy shines through brillantly in this crystal clear glass -- the narrower (compared to a traditional balloon) profile allows for a given quantity of cognac to reach higher up the side of the glass thus allowing a more "complete" view of the color. The flared edge delivers the cognac to the front and sides of the tongue where the "sweet" regions reside. Finally, the tulip shape ensures that the aroma of cognac is delivered to the nose without any of the alcoholic fumes.

Oh, and the lovely pinging made by the crystal during the toast only enhances the experience.

5This glass is simply amazing...!
By Bill Rosich
If you try a nice Cognac or brandy from this glass, I guarantee you'll never use a snifter again. The tulip shape of this glass slows down the rapid evaporation of alcohol that most tasters associate with a "burning" in their nostrils. This glass highlights the wonderful orange peel, spice, vanilla, caramel, etc. of your Cognac. Try your favorite Cognac in this glass right next to the same Cognac in a snifter and you'll be convinced!

I now refuse to have an after-dinner Cognac in restaurants now because I can not stand to drink a fine Cognac from poor glassware. Thanks to Riedel, the bulbous brandy snifter is a concept whose time has passed.

5Abandon your skepticism
By M. Pennington
I bought, at the same time, this glass as well as the snifter from Riedel. I think I've used the snifter twice, usually when I ran out of the Hennessey glass, and then I gave it to people I don't like. The subtlety that this glass brings out of liquors is truly amazing, far from the straight-forward burn I associate with the snifter. I use it frequently for Armagnac, Cognac, and Calvados. I've even taken to using it with Tequila and single malt Scotches. It looks highly specialized (and is named after 1 brand of Cognac, which seems odd), but is actually extremely versatile, and will soon be one of your favorites. It is also remarkably beautiful, as has been pointed out.

5Superb Networked 5.1 Receiver
By TheDude
I bought this to replace my aged Yamaha RX-V795 receiver that was about 13 years old. I was looking for something that supported the latest HDMI and was network capable. My home theater is pretty simple: Panasonic Plasma TV, TiVo, Blu-ray, Receiver. I initially purchased an Onkyo TX-NR515 as it had more features and around the same price. However, the Onkyo TX-NR515 had issues with HDMI: The video would freeze, scale incorrectly, or have no picture at all. In addition, the Onkyo's software had an overall buggy felling (like it was still in beta). So the Onkyo was returned and I started some more research. From the research, I filtered down my choices to the Denon AVR-1713, Pioneer VSX-822K/1022K, and the Yamaha RX-V473.As part of my research, I demoed the available iOS AV control apps. Pioneer has a sweet AV control app, but this app is only for the higher end models. There is a simpler app for the VSX 822/1022 which is not nearly as nice. Also, Pioneer seems to drop support for their models quickly as the app for the 2011 models is different than the app for the 2012 models. Denon and Yamaha seem to have better support as the older receiver models are supported by their latest AV control app. Both apps are nice, But the Yamaha app seems a little more polished. Also, Denon's app is an iPhone app, whereas the Yamaha app is made both for iPhone and iPad. In addition, Yamaha's app gets the highest marks in iTunes. Since I did not like the Pioneer 822/1022 AV control app, this left the Denon and Yamaha as the last contenders for my purchase. It was a tough call between the Denon AVR-1713 and the Yamaha RX-V473. Ultimately, I decided on the Yamaha and here is why:Preferred Yamaha's AV control AppYamaha supports component inputs and has additional digital audio inputsHad excellent experience with my previous Yamaha receiverThat said, the Denon AVR-1713 does have two additional HDMI inputs (one in front and one in back) which I hope I won't be missing. In addition, the Denon has built in support for Pandora. Surprisingly, Yamaha dropped this feature from this years lineup (last year's RX-V671 did have support for Pandora and Rhapsody). But I think I understand why and it was possibly a smart move by Yamaha. Technology changes rapidly, and in the near future, this functionality could become obsolete. Why invest all that time and effort into integrating all these services into the receiver firmware? Supporting these services baked into the firmware seems like building in an 8-track player (as the service may change or go away). Perhaps it is better to spend the time and resources improving other parts of the receiver firmware. Simply support the common interfaces (HDMI, Airplay, DLNA) that allow other devices to connect and let the connected device provide any service that the future may bring. With Airplay, I can play Pandora (or rhapsody, last.fm, etc) from my iPad (or iTunes on PC) directly to the receiver, plus have a far better interface than what is supplied by any receiver. My TiVo also supports Pandora. So I haven't missed the receiver software providing Pandora directly. To see more airplay enabled apps, google "AirPlay enabled Apps."I have had the Yamaha RX-V473 for about a week now and I am really happy with my decision. It was easy to set up with my other components (including HDMI CEC). The unit has worked flawlessly and sounds great with my Polk TL1 speakers and subwoofer. Airplay works great as does the AV Control app. I can grab my iPad and control the receiver from anywhere in my house. I setup HDMI CEC so I could control TV, receiver, and TiVo all with my single TiVo IR remote control. With HDMI CEC, turning on the TV, turns on the receiver. Modifying the TV volume, changes the receiver volume. If I turn off my TV while watching TV, the receiver turns off. In addition, the receiver is smart enough not to turn of the receiver when the TV is shut off and I am not watching TV (like when using Airplay). The receiver plus the iPad control app is an awesome combination. The iPad is a really sweet remote control. You can turn the unit on or off, change the input, control volume, modify DSP setting, control USB connected device, control am/fm tuner, select internet radio station, along with other settings (base, treble, subwoofer trim, etc). You can also use the AV Control app to stream music that is on your iOS device to the receiver. I hope in the future all receiver functionality can be controlled by the iPad app as the interface is far superior to any on screen interface with IR remote. I can see how in the future, the iPad will become interface to the whole home...

5Amazing Network AV receiver
By Stat-MG
I just received this Network receiver on Friday of last week 5/25/2012 and so far I am very impressed. I have my xbox, ps3, macbook pro and cable box all in hdmi in and my wii is hooked up composite and I still have plenty of room to connect more devices if I need to. I have my receiver hdmi out to my TV and am using Klipsch HD 500 Compact 5.1 Home Theater System (Set of Six, Black) with it. All I can say is WOW, I can't believe how amazing it sounds. I read a ton of reviews on Yamaha receivers and the speakers I am using, and to me, many people downplayed how powerful that combo is. I live in an apartment and my neighbors must hate me now. The receiver is quite easy to setup and use, and believe it or not hasn't produced a lot of heat as I have it in my enclosed entertainment center but I do leave the sliding glass door open just in case. I stream my music from my iPhone siriusXM app via airplay and it works very well, there is very little delay. I was very happy to see I can also control the volume from my iPhone also. Airplay was one feature that I though I wouldn't use that much, but find my self using it everyday so far. I spent many days and many hours reading about network AV receivers over the last several months, and I am glad I did. I am writing this to help anyone struggling to make the same decision I had to make. I use the device listed below to hook this receiver up to my wifi, so if you get this receiver grab the netgear adapter with it. Factory Refurbished NETGEAR WNCE2001 Universal WiFi Internet Adapter. Good luck -Pros:Amazing SoundNot as much heat as I thought it would produceVery Stylish sleek lookSmall enough to easily fit in my entertainment centerAirplayTons of internet radio stationsCons:No WiFi built in, but I don't see that with any at this priceNo FM antenna included (not that you would need this but sometimes I like to put on the old school radio) ***note that this may have only been in my case, people are saying they are getting the antennaOther:When comparing this to other receivers and older receivers, I was originally worried that it didn't have the pandora and siriusxm app native to the device as the old model did. Now I understand why, with airplay you simply do not need it.

5Yamaha RX-V473 [aka: HTR-4065] Rocks (pun intended)!
By S. Epstein
Here's my "two-cents worth":[The HTR-4065, by the way, is just a different name for the same equipment - the only difference is the lettering on the face is white, rather than black. They did this for licensing to sell the unit through big-box stores rather than their regular retailers. They are made in the same factory, with the same components.]For a middle of the road, consumer product line, this AV Receiver has most all of the latest features I might want in a 5.1 system. There are things I didn't even know I wanted, but absolutely love using, including the Network connectivity for Apple Air Play, firmware updates, and streaming radio and podcasts [though not high-quality streaming]. The unit lets you set your sub-woofer crossover level internally, providing better control over the speakers. The front USB works great with my iPod and even the compression decoding is done by the unit, rather than by the iPod, and actually does sound better. This unit is solidly built. It was complicated to learn all the settings, but after a couple of days, I've got it down. Runs a lot cooler than my 15-year-old unit downstairs. The sound quality is the most important issue, and I believe that with my new Polk speakers, this unit has nice range, maintains warmth, and I can't detect any noise in the quiet parts. I am most interested in quality of music playback, including a lot of vocal and acoustic - the whole range from rock, to classical, is full and accurate. As for movies, I've only watched a couple, one BD and one streaming, but both were rich sounding, with nice separation and imaging. I enjoy the audio return from my HDMI connected TV. The ability to play my highest bit-rate music files from my computer makes my entire collection immediately available to play.It is a thrill to again listen to my music collection on a quality system. I wasn't looking to replace my family theater system, but I am actually considering replacing the old Sherwood receiver with another one of these Yamaha receivers. One final note... I really didn't want to even spend this much on my "budget" system for my home office, but I did think I wanted the network features... I am very glad I included this feature in my selection, because the ability to control the system and my music through my iPod or Android makes using the system very easy and fun. If you are even thinking about the networked version of any AV Receiver, my advice it to suck it up and do it.Thanks for reading this far. Good luck!

5Snap 'em up before they're gone
By Bob Carpenter
Riedel has discontinued these snifters. For Cognac (and I suppose that goes for Armagnac and other brandies), Riedel's now suggesting the "Hennesy Cognac" glasses, code 416/71, which look like their port glasses with flared rims. If you love snifters and don't care if the trendy oenophiles turn up their noses, go ahead and get a case of these. Personally, I like nothing better than to roll cognac around in a snifter after dinner. Like the other Vinum glasses, the brandy snifters are grandly scaled, wonderfully balanced and gorgeously proportioned. None of the nose-stuck-in-the-bowl problem that you get with some snifters.

5Cognac Snifter
By Jack Beery
I purchased these glasses for a special occasion. They are a great glass for celebrating. Like other Reidel glasses, they are light and enjoyable to drink out of. We also have the 416/71 and for cognac I'll take this glass.

2Riedel makes a better glass
By Lynn Hoffman, author:The Short Course in Beer
Try this: grab a snifter and a small tulip-shaped wine glass. Measure identical amounts of cognac and pour into each glass. Wait a minute or two and then sniff the bouquets. Does it seem more pronounced from any particular one?If one of the glasses seems to nurture a more profound bouquet, wait a few minutes and repeat the experiment. This time, sniff the most productive glass after you have tried all the other. If it still promotes the bouquet more than the others, you can be sure that the shape is the difference. This experiment is one of several inNew Short Course in Wine,TheNow take a taste from each of the glasses. Was there a clear-cut winner? If there was, why wouldn't you use that glass for all the cold beverages that you drink? If you're a relentlessly scientific type, you might try this experiment with both a cheap wine and a more expensive one. You could continue on, sampling reds and whites, sweet wines and dry.The results of my experiments with glasses suggest that brandy snifters are a waste of time and good brandy.Reach instead for the smaller, tulip shaped spirits glass.Lynn Hoffman, author of New Short Course in Wine,Theand the perfectly shaped bang BANG: A Novel
