3Excellent AC-3 performance, a little shy with music
By A Customer
The HK AVR35 is my first home theater system, which I combined with Yamaha surrounds, custom built front and centre speakers, and a Pioneer DV414 DVD player.

The whole system intergrates nicely and DVD's sound great, although after a couple of months and many DVD's and CD's later I have picked up a couple of short comings of this receiver. The main downfall of the AVR35, is the serious lack of power. Many reviews say that the HK produces more power than one would expect from it's rated power output, put this is not the case. I feel that power is one of the most important factors to consider when chosing an AC-3 receiver or amplifier. With the HK what should be solid bass is actually more like a pat on the back!. Another quibble I have is the harsh tops that this unit produces. This unit is a very poor performer when it comes to musical reproduction. The HK does not produce a clean reproduction of the original source material. This is normally the case with low end equipment, but unlike many other systems the HK seems to take away alot of the musical information in an attempt to some how filter the frequency bands. This results in a loss of low frequency response, and clinical sounding tops. I have found that adding a subwoofer improves the low end some what, but there is still a lack of response above 100Hz. Even the head phone jack lacks sufficient output, and there is not even enough range in the bass and treble controls to compensate for this. Adding bass with the bass control knob only adds boom anyway!.

On the positive side, this unit is very well built, and there are plenty enough adjustments for all speakers, even from the remote. The tuner section is good, and all fuctions are easy to operate once you get the hang of it!. The remote works with all my other components which I have found very useful.

Although this is a negative review, I must admit that the HK does a good job with DVD's. You cannot even compare stereo or dolby pro logic to dolby digital, the AVR35 only comes to life with DVD's, and if the only reason you want this unit is to watch DVD's, then I would give it the thumbs up!.

5Harman Kardon receivers have superb sound
By A Customer
Speakers and source components (CD player, Tape Deck, Turntable) will have the greatest impact on the sound quality of your HiFi, but the receiver is also important. Harman Kardon receivers incorporate a number of innovative circuit designs that significantly improve the sound quality of the receiver and the rest of your system. My father had been using another name brand receiver for a number of years and had been quite happy with it, but it eventually conked out. We replaced it with a Harman Kardon receiver and were both struck by how much better his whole HiFi sounded and the receiver was the only component we'd replaced. Harman Kardon costs more than the run of the mill receiver, but they are well worth it.

4Picked up for $50 for a secondary system
By Stacy Greenberg
I don't have the remote, nor a manual...but I am pleasantly surprised. I'm only running 2 Pioneer BS22's and an Energy 10" Sub with an Oppo BDP-83. For the price I have no complaints at all. Very simple to set-up if you need it to be. Plan to turn it into a 5.1 system at some point, but for now the music sounds great. Nothing like my NAIM system, but highly recommend if you're looking for something used on a budget. I'd pay no more than $100 for it.

5Great Bang for the Buck!
By R. Lade
I've tried several printers over the past few months mainly looking for one that would give me good results when printing pictures. I do photography professionally so quality means a lot in the finished photograph. I also know that printers aren't yet up to par with what can be done in a darkroom with film, enlargers, and photographic paper. So, that being said, I'll defend the Lexmark 3200 to the end! For what I want a printer to do with pictures, the 3200 can't be beat for the price. I've compared it to the H/P Photo Smart 1100 and the 970 Cse and the quality is every bit as good if not better that the H/P. One thing to remember; Lexmark makes PRINTERS. Not computers, medical equipment, and several other things besides. Granted, the H/P is quieter and maybe just a tad faster, but speed and a very small amount of noise weren't an issue for me. The only negative is the cost of the ink, but I don't believe that any ink for any printer is any kind of a bargain.

You can't go wrong with this printer. Since the price has dropped so dramatically, I even bought a second one just in case the one I've been using flies apart with all the use it gets. So if you need a great printer that is basically free when you take away the rebate and the two ink cartridges, go for the 3200. You won't be sorry!

4Great Printer
By Brian U.
This is a great printer for the price. One good thing about the 3200 is that it has dual cartrages, unlike some other printers. It has average print speed for printing of text and images. 1200 by 1200 dpi makes the photos look great. The bad things are: -it is a little bit louder than some printers - the refills are expensive - does not have much printer software( but is easy to install) Overall a great printer thats why i'm glad I bought one

4Nice inexpensive color printer
By Sonia Guzman
I bought the lexmark 3200 to replace my 2050. I really loved the 2050 and the software that came with it. I don't like the 3200 as much. I think it is a bit loud and slow. The quality of the printing is very good but it doesn't include a software package. Good print quality for the price. A nice gift for a teen with his own computer or a first printer purchase. The ink is very expensive but I have checked ink prices for other printers and they are all over priced.

5Still Unrivalled as Best Trackball Device
By J. Hardy IV
Once upon a time I got sick of the gunk build up on all the mice and trackballs I had used, it got to the point where they would bump and jump on the mouse pads. I was intrigued when I saw the technology used in the Trackman line, detecting position using the tiny dots on the ball. Now having used the FX Trackman at home and at work for over 3 years, I find that it is the still the best input device of its kind, including the new MSFT optical mice. Once one gets used to the button placement and develops the dexterity to utilise the trackball, constantly smooth and consistent movement will reward them. With no moving parts for the tracking assembly the user only rarely [once a year?] has to pop the ball out and clean the sensors. This trackball does very well in digital art work with Photoshop and is especially excellent when used to play classic trackball arcade games through Mame32 emulation, Missile Command, Tempest, Centipede, Arkanoid, etc. The tertiary buttons are recognized and used as scroll wheel counterparts in Win2k; it's a nice fluff feature. My only wish would be that Logitech eventually upgrade them to use USB so I can plug them into my MSFT keyboards. Otherwise, highly recommended.

4Better than average trackball
By A Customer
I do digital image editing as a hobby, and I wanted to find an accurate input device to handle fine line editing. I tried two different Kensington trackballs, but both had problems whenever I used slow, flowing movements. Even with clean rollers, the ball would never roll smoothly enough for minute editing. Logitech's use of optical tracking make the motion nearly flawless, almost no straying, even with a pixel-wide brush. I agree that the setup of the ball and buttons requires a bit getting used to, but the new hand position is more comfortable once you adapt to it. Others who are complaining about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are probably trying to force their hand position to match the usual angle they've used with other trackballs. You need to look at the instructions to see how to rest the arm and wrist properly for this item. I only dropped a star off the rating because it's too dang expensive! It's worth it, but I wish they would give us a break.

5Puts the mouse where it belongs THE TRASH!
By A Customer
I just started using my new Trackman Marble FX, and I gotta tell you GET ONE! This thing is so smooth, so precise I wish I had one months ago, I have never used any pointing device that works as well as this one, and believe me I have used about every version of a mouse there is, nothing comes close to this trackball! If you're in the market for a new mouse forget about it! Try a trackball you will not be disappointed.

5HP's best designed calculator
By David Simpson
I have been a big fan of HP calculators for about 25 years now, and have about 15 of them in my collection. The HP-32SII is the best-designed calculator they have yet made. Some of the upper-end models are a bit much and complex to use, while some of the lower-end models use algebraic logic and are lacking in some commonly needed features. The HP-32SII is just right -- enough features to make it very useful, while not being overdesigned. It's easy to program, and its RPN continues to be one of my favorite features. This is the calculator I use for scientific use on a daily basis. You won't be disappointed with this one.

5ROLLS ROYCE of calculators
By VIRGO
I purchased my first calculator about 30 years ago - the HP35 for US$400. I have used Hewlett Packard calculators ever since. My second purchase was the HP 12C, a beautifully designed financial calculator that is still on the market some 15 or 20 years later and which I still use from time to time.

I have used the HP32SII since 1993 under the extreme conditions of classroom use as a math teacher in a secondary school. Chalk dust is ever present and I couldn't count the number of times it has fallen from my desk to the floor. I recommend this calculator to my senior math students but they shy away from it because of the price. This is false economics. None of the other brands have the durability to last, making them in the long run expensive calculators. I know this from the experience of my students who purchase cheaper competing brands.

The features that attract me to the HP 32SII are the Reverse Polish Notation, which is the superior way of doing arithmetic and the ease with which intermediate calculations can be stored.

Hewlett Packard makes up for its poor manuals with superb service and getting it right the first time. How many other calculators stay on the market for so many years after they are first introduced.

I purchased my daughter an HP 48GX when she entered Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto 6 years ago. At first she "swore" at it because of the RPN but quickly came to swear by it. Most of her classmates used the same HP as well.

The HP32SII is a solid performer at its level of functionality. When I need more I use a software package such as MAPLE V which I am confident will be available someday on a hand held computer.

5a model of product design
By Rod Anderson
I have used the 32SII for a few years now. I agree with the other reviewers about RPN.

This calculator is not only the finest calculator ever, from the standpoint of power and value, but I think it ranks near the top of the finest product designs ever, for any product. There is nothing about it that can be improved. The form factor is just right. All functions are where they belong. Every key clicks the same, and clicks right. Batteries last forever. This product should be in a museum of outstanding product design.

Having said that, I will editorialize a bit. I am severely disappointed that HP discontinued this product. I think it speaks volumes that the new HP cannot recognize its own product excellence, and apparently fails to value the things that brought it customer loyalty.

4Good quality and reliable, stylus-based Sharp calculator
By Ann E. Revelle
This calculator is a very good one and one that works equivalently in all ways using either direct keystrokes or stylus motions. It is largely no longer available which is a shame, but some of the internal electronics software is clearly getting quite outdated (and a little bit sluggish compared to some other more recent calculators, etc.). It performs really well however, so if you want to try a stylus-based calculator to see if you would like a much more advanced one like the Casio Classpad330, this is a great one to try out. All the expected standard (as well as several advanced functions) and numerous data plotting options (with split-screen capability including the option of both a table and a plot displayed simultaneously, etc.) and numerous and reliable statistical operations for detailed data analysis, etc. are available on this fine unit. It also comes with a slide-on, standard heavy plastic cover and a very good manual with very clearly explained operations and examples. I recommend it, if you can still find it, without any reservations.

4Old School but great tool
By Michelle Belle
This calculator is pretty old compared to the other bells and whistles out there...no USB port or interfaces, but it is touch-screen which is pretty cool. I loved this calculator, and found it very easy to use. One thing I really liked was that it would simplify fractions for me - and I'm not sure the TI's would do that. The only problem is that most people own TI calculators, so the teachers would explain how to do things (and texts would tell how to perform functions) using TI-84, and I had to figure it out on my own (or by using the jumbo instruction manual that came with it). If you need a graphing calculator for algebra and calculus and not worried about all the bells and whistles, I highly recommend saving your money and purchasing this one!

5As a Realtor & Loan Officer, I just LOVE this calculator!!!
By Edward H. Tran
During the many years going to college (I majored in Finance), working as a Banker, and now as a Realtor/Loan Officer, I have used many different financial calculators made by Sharp, HP, and Texas Instruments, etc. Each of the calculators I've tried has some good points and some bad ones. However, if you work in real estate, this calculator is made for you. It is loaded with excellent features specifically designed for this industry. I paid over $80 for my calculator when it first came out, and I felt I got every penny's worth. At the current price of less than forty bucks, it's absolutely a bargain!

Another reviewer on this page complains about the responsiveness of the keys. I simply don't have any problem like that at all. He or she must have had a defective one. I always tap the keys very fast, and the numbers come out all right.

In short, if you're heavily involved with real estate and mortgages, I highly recommend you to give this calculator a try!

5This little toy rocks!!!!!
By Matthew Troxell
Some reviewers say that they have a problem with not hitting the keys hard enough will give them bad results. I have to disagree. Maybe they did some design changes, cause now it is not a problem to quickly skim and hit the keys for accurate results. All the wasted time spent with with my old financial calc. and a pen and paper. Well worth the 32 bucks I paid. Highly recommended!!!

5Ugly, Slow Graphing but a Grand Machine
By newton fisher
Every comment here is right.1. This calculator can do everything but change the baby's Pampers.2 It is S L O W E R [drawing a graph] than the class dunce.3 It is the best graphing calculator for the money.4 It is made really well and will be working for your heirs long after your in the graveyard [but do leave them the users guide]5 It uses both RPN and/or algebraic input.6 No-One whom I know uses all the functions of this calculator.7 The review is almost scary nearly suggesting this is not a device for mere mortals. Hogwash, my grand nephew who is blessed with the same average intelligence as I has used this calculator in middle school

There is a grand debate: Texas Instruments calculators vs. H.P. Firstly, I am a H.P. user. No doubt, though, for most tasks the T.I. will be easier for most folks but for versatility, accuracy, durability and reliability, or if you are not IN a school which requires a T.I. you are better off with the Hewlett Packard .

To be honest this is not a 'take to class everyday'. if you are in high school unless one is doing some really advanced maths. Even for much collage maths this calculator is 'overkill'.

That written if you can use it, if it is not banned if you require a graphing calculator and have the time to learn how to use this one it is great, and one will find nothing as it for any price.

If you are new to HP or RPN buy a book from Amazon titlled 'jump start The HP 48G/GX by Adams and Potter ... [dont throw away the user guide for use later].

As an aside I loaned my 48G+ to my grand nephews 9th grade 'girl' and she likes it so much she has replaced her TI with it which suggests that I am in the 48G+ market, agan. [I triied the 49 but the keyboaard STINKS]

5HP48G+ is the best calculator I've ever seen
By Ben
This calculator is the best buy out of all the graphing calculators out there. It's simple to use, has 128k, an infa red port (you can controll TV's and stuff), it can play 2 sounds at once (no TI can do this), and it has a bunch of software and games that can be loaded on... I'd recomend this to anyone looking for a good graphing calculator for a good price.
