5The Best Blade - Bar None
By Richard
A little "pricey" but well worth it! No other saw blade on the market can compete with Forrest. It blows Freud away. Quiet, no vibration, flat & true and your cuts look like they were sanded with 200 grit sandpaper. And that's just the product. Before buying this blade I had questions about the kerf width so I called Forrest. It was after hours I didn't expect an answer, but Mr. Forrest himself answered the phone. I was blown away that he answers his own phone; try to get the president of Freud on the phone. He and I spoke for a good 15-20 minutes. Mr. Forrest personally told me if for any reason I didn't like HIS blade he would buy it back from me no questions asked. He also told me in all his years in business he has never had to buy back a blade. It say's a lot when someone stands behind their product like that. Simply the best... Bar none!

5Freud vs. Forrest?
By Rich Guardia
I've owned the Freud LU85 & F80 crosscut blades. They in no way compare to the quality of the Chopmaster. The Forrest has no vibration at all! I mean none. The plate is so flat & true, when you pull the triger it feels like there isn't even a blade on the saw. It's also very quiet as well, no ringing after the blade comes to a stop. It cuts hardwood so smooth it's like it's been sanded to 600 grit paper. It cuts softwood very good to. I also considered the Ridge Carbide TS 1000 & Tenryu Miter Pro. They are all about the same price. I doubt you could go wrong with these two blades either. So spend the extra $... . Forget about Freud! They make good router bits, but their saw blades are just average compared to Forrest. It's like a Civic vs. a Ferrari....

5Outstanding Performance
By B. Keyes
Without a doubt, the very best blade I've used on my Makita Slide/Compound Miter Saw. I am a Contractor/Trim Carpenter and have used many different blades over the years. You simply can't go wrong with this product. Not the least expensive blade by any means, but unquestionably the best.

After using my Ryobi blade for quite sometime on my compound miter saw... I was amazed. The crosscut in Maple actually had a shine to it, it was so smooth.

4Great miter
By Jack A. Whelan
I purchased this blade for a DW712. It works very well. It is not quite upto the quality of the WWII. It makes good cuts; however, the difference between this and a 40$ Freud is not worth the difference in price. I don't say this because I am involved in The Freud Vs. Forrest Debate. In fact I would normally favor Forrest. I just don't feel that this blade's performance warrants the price.

By 1purchase2many
I purchased this to use on my 1954 radial arm saw and it cuts so clean I was literally speechless. I am pretty new to woodworking and was advised not to skimp on blades. These are very pricy and the competition seemes to be creeping up on them but the cut on this blade is better than and Freud blade I have used (I have 2)Forrest CM08Q606100 Chopmaster 8-1/4-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Miter Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor

5Forrest Blades Perform As Advertised
By Aldis M. Knight
The cross-cut blade will cut veneer plywood without splintering. I use it for just that purpose. And, I have a total of 5 Forrest sawblades. I use them because they cut without the need for joining edges and I can send them back to Forrest Mfg. to have them professionally sharpened.

5Costs More But Saves $
By Warren E Russell
this is the best blade I've ever used. It just ran through about 80 sheets of maple ply and is still cutting smooth with no bottom splintering. I was planning to buy a new table saw with a scoring blade but I don't think I need to now. Works even better on MDF. I bought the 5" stiffener with it.

Product Description

Forrest's blades offer a superior cut that leaves a rip-cut saw edge that is as smooth as if it had been sanded, and a cross-cut edge that is almost mark-free. The blades run very quietly, and backside tearout in plywood is negligible. Each blade is virtually hand-made. The plate is hand-tensioned (up to 15 minutes per blade), superior C-4 carbide teeth are hand-brazed to the plate, and the blade is straightened and restraightened multiple times throughout the process. Think of a Forrest blade as a tool in your shop, not an accessory. Forrest stands behind it's blades by offering a sharpening service that bring blades back to the exact tolerances offered in a new blade. And this same exacting service is available for other manufacturer's blades as well, so they should come back better than new. Forrest Woodworker 1 Saw Blade For Radial and Table Saws. 5High Quality - High Price
By Scott Pointon
I have been woodworking for ten years, and for all ten of those years I have been hearing that Forrest blades are the best. Despite this, I found it hard to spend this much on a saw blade when I could get very good performance from a Freud blade costing one third to one half as much. Armed with an Amazon gift certificate (a birthday present) I finally convinced myself to buy one of these blades. This Forrest blade is like no other I have ever used. It is the Cadillac of blades for sure, and the differences between Forrest and Freud are like night and day.First of all, I was impressed with the care that Forrest took in packaging this blade for shipment. The box is very sturdy and reusable in case you want to ship the blade back to Forrest for sharpening. The teeth were protected by an easily removable coating that kept them razor sharp. After installing it on my DeWalt 746 saw (I also use a DeWalt stabilizing disc) and after recalibrating my fence scale and adjusting the splitter to accommodate the thinner blade, it was time to start cutting. The performance of this blade is phenomenal! It is noticably quieter before you start cutting, and a lot quieter while you are cutting. I performed test cuts in 3/4 plywood, 4/4 pine, 4/4 white oak, and 8/4 white oak. I was pleased with all of these cuts. The thin kerf design allowed the wood to glide through the blade with little effort for me or the saw. The rip cuts did give a smoother edge than any blade I have ever used, but there were some VERY minor saw marks left. They were so small that I feel nit-picky in mentioning them, but I want give the facts. Where I was most impressed with this blade was in the quality of the cross cuts. After crosscutting the 4/4 and 8/4 white oak I was very impressed with the shiny smoothness of the endgrain and the total lack of splintering. Speaking of splintering, there was none worth mentioning, even in the plywood.Though it still makes me uneasy to think of spending this much on a saw blade - call it Midwestern frugality - I have to admit that this blade is everything that the hype says it is. I will no doubt be happy with this blade for many years. If money is not an object, then by all means buy this blade. If you have a tight budget, put this on your mental wish list like I did and get one eventually...you won't regret it!

5Cut to the chase
By okwoodworker
An excellent blade. I did not believe the claims of "gluable" and "joiner" quality cuts, but it's true. I think it's a combination of the thin curf and the blade quality, but it feels like I've added another horse or two to my saw motor. I also bought the stabilizer right off. The blade is obviously more expensive, but the quality of the cut is so good it's hard to even compare the WWII with standard blades.

By the way, I use a Uniguard blade guard with the separate splitter. I was a little concerned at first about whether the kerf of the 3/32 blade would be wide enough for the splitter, but it is. I did have to adjust the position of the splitter, and place the stabilizer on the inside of the blade to get the two to line up. But it works very well.

I wish I could afford one for my miter saw!

5Choosing Forrest is a "no-brainer"
By Mike Hennessy
These blades are astounding! Slap one on your saw and make cuts like you only dreamed of - smooth, straight and with very little feed pressure. They cose a little more, but they're worth every penny and more. My old blades are now relegated to keeping my stacks of sandpaper flat.

5Super smooth cuts, even crosscuts.
By A Customer
After trying various other blades, I have found this to be the best all around table saw blade. At first I was skeptical of the high price, but after using it I am convinced that this is the only way to go. Tool tip - Make sure that your blade is sharp. It can be deceiving that although it still feels sharp to the touch, it is not cutting as well as it can. I have used the resharpening service that Forrest provides, and I am extremely impressed with the quality of the service.

5Wonderful, Awesome Product
By David C. Brayton
This is the cream of of the crop, top of the heap, A Number 1, superb blade. It cuts as well as everyone says. This blade is noticeably stiffer than the blade this replaced. UPDATE: I've now cut 1000+ linear feet of hardwoods with this blade. The cuts are awesome!! Not a single machine mark! Boards are ready for glue up. No need to make a stop at the jointer. I'd give this 6 stars if I could!

5Smoothest Cutting Blade I've Ever Used!
By Al the Pal
I use this in my 5hp Jet Table Saw and it is absolutely super! I do have the Forrest 5" dampener that I use with it which limits the depth of cut to 2 1/2". Without the damper, it will cut almost 3" in my saw. The cuts are so clean that you can literally go to the 220 grit sandpaper as the first grade! I figure I'll save the difference in cost on sandpaper alone (maybe)!

Forrest offers resharpening service for these blades that restores them to factory specs. They do require a special grind that most "locals" can't do. Buy this blade and you won't be sorry - buy once, cut twice as long!

5Great price for a great vice!
By A Customer
This Jorgensen vise is perfect for the home workshop. It's easy to install thanks to the template provided and big enough to handle everything I work on. The quick release works great and makes it easy to secure work without effort. I'd recommend this vice to anyone that is serious about woodworking and conscious about their budget.

5A purchase you will not regret
By Rainy Day Runner
I originally purchased this vise in a local woodworking store and was told it was the rapid release model. To my dismay it was the continuous bolt model. I took that back and made this order from Amazon. The packaging was good since Amazon did a nice job of repacking the original shipper box, which had been thoroughly worked over. This vise is very well constructed. The rapid release nut is an absolute must. I went with the 7" instead of bigger for two reasons.1) If you are using bench dogs and you have a 9" opening capacity, just make your bench with dogs holes closer than 9" to one another and you have the ability to clamp very large pieces.2) The face seems to be plenty big enough for me. Just make your hardwood face a little bigger if you want a bigger face on your vise. I installed a 10" x 4 1/2" inch hardwood face on my vice. It works great! Some of the reviews complain about the black grease on the vise. I just put on some disposable latex gloves. They got a little dirty, but saved my hands. It also helps ensure that you don't end up with any metal burrs in your skin. The only thing I didn't love was the wood handle. It is a little short and then end caps are quite loose. I just bought a 1" oak dowel and made my own end caps. Works like a charm!Buy with confidence!

4not what I expected
By Tommy L. Morse
I recieved my vise and was excited to get it as I had just finished building my new shop work bench and was looking forward to adding the vise. I ordered the Jorgensen vise because I am very pleased with the quality of there other vises I have purchased. When I opened the box I was surprised and disappointed that it did not look like I had expected. I ordered the 9" vise for two reasons, first because I needed a vise that was not to wide and according to the discription the vise had a 7" face and as I only allowed 8" when installing the top of my work bench for the vise to mount on the front and not hit the leg. Well the face was 7" but the mounting hole for underneath were 2" wider making it a total of 9". Second and most important to me anyway was the appearance. The picture on Amazon is different then the one I recieved. The picture on Amazon shows what is actualy the 12" model 41000 for both the 9" and the 12" vise when in fact the 9" model 40709A has a completely different face on it. One that is the same size but much more square. I could have gotten a square vise like that anywhere but as I said I was trying to find the right look. This may be a small thing but we all take pride in our work benches especially. I wish a little more time was spent on making sure the pictures match the item better and more pictures or details were availible in order to make the right buying discission

Machined, toed-in jaws provide a solid grip, while northern hardwood handles provide balance and comfort. 1Don't make the mistake of buying this vise.
By J. Robinson
When I first took it out of the box, I had to double-check that I was shipped the right vise. The casting of both halves was so mismatched, I thought it was a cheap knock-off. There was so much polyurethane on the wooden dowel handle that I couldn't fit the caps on without splitting them - I had to sand the finish off first.

The quick-release feature was fun the first couple of times I used it, but it quickly became a pain. A half turn back releases the outer jaw so it can be pulled out or pushed in. But it doesn't slide very easily and the half turn doesn't fully release the work. And, of course, continuing to turn out doesn't do anything because the gear mechanism has released. I eventually "fixed" it by drilling and tapping a threaded hole into the quick-release gear from the front while the gear is engaged. A screw in this hole will jam up against the inner jaw and prevent the quick-release gear from doing its job.

1Buyer Beware - Quality Is Poor
By A Customer
I was very disappointed when I opened up the box and inspected the vise. The castings were of poor quality, the front jaw was displaced about 3/16" to the left of the rear jaw when closed, and when viewed form the top the jaws were not parallel when closed (1/16" off). In addition, the quick open/close feature did not work well. When you consider the high cost (money) of this vise, it is just unacceptable. I have since returned it to Amazon.com for a refund.

5Jorgensen vise review
By Larry Graubner
I recently purchased this vise from Amazon and installed it on my woodworking bench. The machining is excellent, the fit and finish are great and the smooth jaws don't mar the wood it clamps.

I really like the quick-release feature and have found it invaluable for quickly adjusting the vise to the work at hand.

Installation was quick and easy and the vise included a template for drilling mounting holes.
