The Best VCR available

Simply the best VCR available. My old VCR recentlyperished,and I looked to Reports for some guidance on purchasing a newone. I bought the top rated one, the Panasonic, and was immediately disappointed. The picture quality wasn't as good as my old one, nor was the quality of the copies it made. I returned it on the premise that it was defective and was given a replacement. Same problems. I talked to a technician and was told, "they don't make them as good as they used to" -- implying that I would have to settle for less. Wrong! On the advice of a friend I then purchased the Go-Video. The best VCR I ever owned. The picture quality is even better than my old VCR! The copies I make of shows are outstanding, and I can make perfect copies of these tapes to give to friends or family. Certain shows I keep but want to edit out commercials. With the Go-Video I get a copy as good as the original, but with no commercials! (editing out commercials is not automatice, but easy). You can probably tell that I really like this machine, and I think everyone should have one. Superb quality and versatility. A must buy!

WORTH THE MONEY YOU PAY FOR IT!!

This VCR is excellent. Not long after I bought it, I had family and relatives asking me to make copies of home movies for them. All I had to do was pop the original in one side and the blank tape in the other side and hit one button. It can't get any easier than that. It is so easy to operate. I can't believe anyone didn't think of this years ago.

Could never go back to a single deck

A very "convenient" machine. Almost all music cassette machines are dualdecks; why not VCRs. Would definitely miss the dualdeck capability now that I'm used to it. Can easily tape one program while watching one already taped. Copies of tapes from anywhere are flawless. Other regular features of these machines are top-notch also (great rewind, digital tracking, full feature remote, simulated 3D QSound, on and on. I love these machines!

Mike the red engine

If your child likes playing with Thomas & Friends trains, Mike's job is to help the Great Western steam engines Duck and Oliver on the Arlesdale branch line, working in places like the Barrel Loader. He works hard and means well, but he likes to boast to his new friends about everything, especially his loud and shrill whistle. He would be a good engine to use in heavy-duty jobs like pulling logs or barrels.You might not know Mike, but that's probably because he has not been in a video yet. I'm sure after you read this review, you'll know pretty much about Mike and will want to add him to your collection.

I love the trains to the Thomas the Train set. They are small enough for small hands to move along the tracks, but not small enough to pose a choking hazard. My eighteen month loves to play with this train because it is just his size. It's not to awkward for him to hold.

It is a really good made toy and my 5 year old and 2 year old grandsons love playing with it. They love Thomas and Friends toys. It was purchased because of the name, but is fun for all. That is there PaPas name.

Great Product, but read on....

I recently purchased an Olympus digital camera and took the suggestion from one of the reviews and purchased a floppy adapter. I'm very happy with it! It makes downloading pictures much easier, and can also be used as a general purpose, large floppy disk. In fact, I use it much more to transfer files between PCs than as a camera accessory.

My recommendation is to buy one, but NOT this one! Again from one of the Olympus reviews, I found the real manufacturer of these adapters--a company called SmartDisk. You get the same thing for $20 less, plus if you use SmartMedia cards, you get an 8MB card included free (at least as of 2/20 stated as a "Limited Time Offer"). I suggest you check it out!

Works great - Beware of batteries!

I bought one of these units and it's true that you can use it with supplied software in 3.5" floppy drives. The con: It uses (2) internal disk batteries and they have a short life. Possible better choice: A memory card reader - either parallel or USP. They are very fast and the files show up as a hard drive on your computer.

You want one of these, but...

This thing works great, and it's so much faster than the serial cable method. If you have a camera that uses SmartMedia, then this is a no-brainer. Get one. However, I'll let you in on a little secret. These devices are made by SmartDisk, and several manufacturers (including Olympus) slap thier logos on them and sell them. All of them are the same internally, but the price varies quite a bit!

A convenient, small printer, but with bothersome quirks.

I purchased this printer after a very bad experience when I traveled away from home and needed to print out a simple document. So I had my laptop and I saw those ads about a business that offers to be your office away from home. Well, I could not get the document printed out. So I did my research and purchased the BJC-50 since it was the smallest portable printer available at the time (the two Canons and a HP version). My BJC-50 is about seven years old and still works. It worked well with my laptop and Windows 98 and now with my laptops using Windows XP.PROS:The BJC-50 is the smallest available travel printer for printing documents and prints at a relatively acceptable speed.The BJC-50 printer includes a LiON battery which makes for truly portable printing. I'm amazed how long a charge lasts and the battery pack is inside a battery compartment in the printer (not externally like the HP Deskjet 460 series). Well, the LiON battery is piggy back attached to the HP 460. I'm guessing that HP recommends removing the battery before traveling. You don't need to do that with the BJC-50. Just remember to slide the power lock switch on the right side of the BJC-50 to prevent the printer from accidentally turning on when traveling.CONS:The REALLY BAD part of this printer is that the ink cartridges, once opened, do not last very long. The color cartridges dry out faster than the black cartridges. And the ink cartridges do not provide feedback to indicate the amount of ink remaining in each cartridge.The printer is relatively loud when it is printing.You need to be careful when feeding the paper otherwise the printer ejects the paper.I cannot get the IS-12 Scanner Cartridge in the BJC-50 printer to communicate with the IS application under Windows XP even though Canon's web site and the Readme file says it is supported (there is a configuration issue somewhere). This is more effort than its worth for now.SUMMARY: This is one temperamental printer. While it provides convenient printing on the go, I think it takes more effort than it should just to get something printed.I'm purchasing a HP Deskjet 460WF. I'll let you know how I like it soon.

Beware

I purchased the Canon BJC-50 in August of 1998. It has taken at least three hours to three days of effort to get it to work for each time that I have occasionally used it. I have used it mainly for color printing, and also for scanning with the optional scanning cartridge. It is particularly troublesome when switching from scan to print functions. It is quite noisy. I can not depend on it to function when I need it. It usually works eventually, but only after many trial and error attempts. Email technical support usually does not provide a quick solution. There have been no quick solutions. There have only been time consuming, painstaking encounters with this machine.

Excellant printer but the rebate has expired

The price to performance ratio is excellant. Print speed and quality appear to better that other more expensive vendors. The rebate has expired on this product on 7-10-99. The rebate did influence my decision to buy. The printer is still a bargain at this price but I am disappointed in the marketing of this product with the rebate prominently mentioned. Buyer Beware!

Canon BJC 1000

I previously used the Canon BJC 4300 which was fine except it drank ink like you wouldn't believe. I don't make that many hard copies, probably one 8 1/2 x 11 page a week and once in a great while, copy some email, yet I replaced the black ink cartridge 3-4 times a year and the color, twice, in the 4300. It broke after 2 years. (Planned obsolescence ?)So I thought when I bought this BJC 1000, I would save money. With my rebate, it will only cost $40, plus shipping. But I have no idea yet how long the ink cartridge will last and it is quite expensive - $30, almost as much as the printer! And it is so slow, too. It takes approximately 2 1/2 minutes to hard copy 1 page, 8 1/2 x 11. I only hope I can buy a black ink (only) cartridge for this thing when it runs out and that it will be considerably cheaper than the color and that it will also last a long time. If I have to replace this $30 ink cartridge 2-3 times a year, I will replace this BJC 1000 with one that is much more conservative, like an HP or something else. My friends have HP's and they tell me they hardly ever replace ink cartridges. The money you save on ink cartridges at these prices more than offsets the higher priced printers and their print quality is better and much faster.

Fine little printer for the price

Loading the software couldn't have been made any easier. User's manual user friendly too. The print quality in black is excellent and fast enough. Color is quite slow with good quality. Very quiet too. A good way to begin color printing.

An outstanding product from Lego. The Egypian Adventurers theme has been a huge success and this set,"The Secret of the Sphinx", is a wonderful addition. Join Sam Grant, Harry Cane, Pippin Reed and The Professor or take sides with Lizard Boots and Evil Eye to explore the countless temples of Pharoah Hotep and snatch the Regou Ruby from his curse with these brilliant 1930's - style Lego sets.

Lego's long forgotten Johnny Thunder line......

For those of you who are new to collecting legos or are parents buying legos for your children, the Johnny Thunder line is a must buy for lego fans. It was a series that was obviously inspired by Indiana Jones and a few differnet series of this line. This Sphinx Secret Surprise was part of the desert adventure series of Johnny Thunder. This is a must buy lego set. It comes with at least than 6 lego people along with a mummy & a skeleton. It is also a blast to bulid the entire tomb. Kids with have fun messing around with the traps that are part of this set. It is also fun to make movies with it, this was something I used to do when I was younger with Lego Steven Spielberg Moviemaker Set (1349).Ah, good times. This set alone has a very Raiders of the Lost Ark feel to it and it's an adventure itself to consruct. This was sadley the only desert adventure line I had as a kid. But I would go on and buy the Dinosaur adventure series for Johnny Thunder which is also a must buy for children.

A great toy purchase!

The only reason I'm not giving this toy 5 stars is that the bigger set has to be even more fun. This toy (supplemented with the pontoon plane) kept a 5 year old and 3 year old content for an entire week on vacation with NO other toys around. To quote my 5 year old: "It's real neat because it does all kind of different things. And because the guy inside comes out when you push a little thing-y. And it's great! "
