This is a quality stand for all around the shop machine use.The leg adjustment works great for fine level tuning. Also, with its roller wedge height adjustment, you do not have to worry about mashing your fingers when you make the up or down height setting.Best of all,its made in the USA.

4A Fine Tool
By Hard Maple
Its strong and steady. The lock style makes it hard to get dead-on accuracy, but I rarely find that necessary with a support stand. My only real complaint is that during manufacturing, a lot of the white paint got on the threads of the feet so I have to use a wrench to make height adjustments on 3 feet for right now instead of finger-tip adjustments like on the 4th. I do expect the other 3 to loosen up in time though, so its probably not a big deal.

5Much needed dimensions
By Marc A Ohmann
It took me a little longer to set up than most. I mounted it on a 20 year old duracraft 10" by making some custom brackets. To mount this fence your table should be 27.25" +- .75" deep and the mounting holes for the rails should be 16" apart, 8" on each side of the blade and 1-3/16" from the top of the table. If your saw falls within these dims you should have it up and running within 20 minutes. It took me about 5 hours to mill aluminum table extensions for mine and get it mounted.

About the only thing I would change with the fence is that the indicator window rides about .5" above the tape on the rail -- this allows for too much error depending on your line of sight. I have mine set up so I can cut within +-.007" by only using the scale on the rail (that's right, +-1/128") but if someone else used it they might not know which eye to close and where to hold their head. :-) Of course, with the micro adjust you could probably cut within .001" with a couple setup cuts.

All in all I was amazed at the accuracy, ease of use, and simplicity of this fence. After I ordered it I wondered if I should have ordered the incra TS III because it has multiple rails and should hold square better. Once I got it and set it up, I think this fence is just right for my saw and it holds square perfectly. Maybe I'll try out the incra design on my router table.

5Great product...
By Steven Woolgar
My old fence was a piece of crap. I thought that all fences were of the same general accuracy. I even tried some other great fences like the biesemeyer and Delta UniFence. I have to say, that I like the Vega even better than those. It makes using my saw a joy.

5Simply Perfect
By B. Boyd
I mounted this to my old Craftsman cast iron contractor saw (early 1990's? Part number begins with 113) and love it. I had to drill one hole in the front of the saw which was easy. Measure twice, no, three times and drill. After some set up, checking, and rechecking, I was ready to cut. And boy was I happy. Perfect square cuts. I mean square down an entire 8ft rip. Something my Craftsman fence could never accomplish no matter how many time I put a square to it.I probably spent 45 minutes on the installation but I moved slowly and checked everything twice as I assembled. Honestly I didn't need to spend so much time because the fence has plenty of adjustments to get it perfect after you install it.

5Comments on the Vega 40" Pro table saw fence system
By A Customer
I purchased the Vega 40" Pro table saw fence roughly five years ago and mounted it on a Rockwell 10" Contractor's saw that I bought in 1980. I was going to upgrade to a cabinet saw or the Unisaw but after replacing the stock fence with the Vega fence, I found I had no need to upgrade the table saw. I build fine furniture as a hobby and it's amazing the difference a good fence makes. It was extremely easy to install; no new holes were needed. This fence is always perpendicular to the blade and never needs to be adjusted after the initial installation. It's strong and very stable. I purchased the "Finger Saver" when I initially bought the fence and it was a great purchase. I'm finding it hard to find the additional accessories made by the manufacturer and which the tool vendors do not stock. I just returned from a trip to California where I had stopped at a Rockler store in the San Diego area. They had a Vega hold-down roller on the in-store display but did not have it available for purchase. I would have bought it on the spot if I could have. SUMMARY: POSITIVE ITEM --> The fence is exceptional and if I bought a new saw, I would most likely move it to the new saw; I like it that much. NEGATIVE ITEM --> The tool suppliers need to make the accessories more readily available to the public (such as people like ME!).

5Excellent fence
By A Customer
After several years wondering if it would be worth spending [money] on an aftermarket fence for my 20 year old Sears 10" table saw, I purchased the Vega 40" Pro fence. The fence installed with a minimum of modifications (one hole had to be drilled into the cast iron top for the rear rail). The fence makes a big improvement in the overall accuracy and ease of use of the saw. I wish I had made the move years ago. The scale is so precise that I can set up the rip width without using a rule to measure. I'm very happy with my decision to replace the stock fence!

5Great fence, easy to install
By KEVIN PEREZ
After looking at all sorts of fences (Unifence, Biesmeyer, Excalibur, etc.) I chose the Vega because it was as sturdy as all the others, and had the added benefit of the micro adjust. It took me 30 minutes to install it and square it up. There was nothing difficult about the process whatsoever.

The micro adjust helps alot in the home shop environment where, after you cut several pieces to the same size and change the fence settings, you have to go back and cut one more that exactly matches the others. Fine tuning like this is a snap.

Besides being "rock-solid," the fence has other nice features, such as a fine measuring indicator line, an easy to read fence scale, and the ability to use Vega's or home-made sliding jigs that ride in the fence's top channel grooves. The fence is also pre-drilled and comes with extra-long screws for mounting a sacrificial face for dadoing and other operations. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase (and I'm not easy to please...)

5A terrific table saw upgrade
By A Customer
I recently purchased and installed this fence. I have two Craftsman table saws (one circa 1950 and one circa 1970) mounted together on the same base with an extension table on either side; one saw is used primarily for dado-ing and the other for normal sawing. The original Craftsman fence locked onto two pieces of angle iron, had to be whacked repeatedly with the palm of the hand to adjust it to the right spot - which sometimes caused it to jump off its rails, and often when it was locked it ended up out of parallel with the blade, causing the workpiece to bind. I eventually became so fed-up with it that I reviewed the commentaries on after-market saw fences found in various woodworking newsgroups, and based upon that review decided to order this fence. Owing to the configuration of my saws, I did not install the fence in the intended manner (8" left, 50" right of the blade), but rather centered the fence rails so that the fence is usable for either saw. Of course in doing so, I sacrificed the 50" rip capacity that the fence is intended to accommodate (ending up with a maximum 31" rip capacity which is adequate for my needs). Mounting the rails required drilling additional mounting holes through edges of my saw tables, and drilling and tapping additional holes in the fence rails in order to achieve the desired mounting position. I viewed this task in advance with some trepidation (it's a bit nerve-wracking to begin drilling holes in a $200+ piece of equipment right out of the box), but it was really quite simple to do. The entire installation took between two and three hours to complete. I am very pleased with the result. The fence glides back and forth across the saw table beautifully, and locks in place with a light push on a locking lever. The micro-adjustment feature is nice, but I think unnecessary - the fence moves so effortlessly on the rails that the desired position can easily achieved without it. Using both of my saws with this fence is a pleasure; it's almost as if they are brand new saws.

5Great Upgrade
By L. Markert
I purchased the Vega Fence to upgrade my Grizzly 1022SM Table saw. The Vega fence bolted to the table with no problems and with no need to drill extra holes. After installation and adding on my Extension table for the 50" fence bar, the Fence was Accurate and stays Accurate. I now can set my Fence where I want it and be sure its dead on.Simply put this was a great Investment.

5Set it and forget it
By R. Miller
Early in my life as a home-renter, I did all my woodworking on a radial arm saw. Why? Because it came with the house and I couldn't afford anything else. It worked, but using it to rip wood scared the heck out of me. I was never as cautious and careful as when I used that saw.

When I moved to my own home, I knew that I was going to need to replace that saw with a table saw. Craftsman was the choice, due to price and credit availability. Over the years, that saw served well for all my woodworking and home projects, but the fence system on it always irked me. Whenever I set the fence, I would have to measure from the fence to the miter slot near the blade, then to the miter slot at the front, then to the miter slot at the back, all the while tap, tap, tapping the fence back and forth to adjust it while slowly tightening it down. What a pain.

Finally, after seventeen years, I decided to upgrade the saw. I didn't have enough cash to replace it, so instead I installed a higher horsepower motor, new pulleys and v-belt, and a new fence system - the Vega system.

Installing the Vega fence was not tough. It installed into the existing holes in my saw table. I did need to make a support for the right side of the table, because the 50" fence on that side would tip the saw without it. I went out of my way and made a nice one, so that my work piece would have support on that side as it went through the saw.

It took a little bit to align the fence, but nothing exceptional. Now when I move the fence, I don't have to do my little measuring dance to make sure it is parallel with the blade. I can set it and forget it.

The measurement indicator is adjustable and the tape measure on the front rail can be repositioned (and needed to be for my saw). There is a "micro" adjustment feature that lets me move the fence a very small amount at a time, making it easier to sneak up on just the right dimension.

The only problem I have had with the fence is that it moved as I was cutting. Very discouraging to find that the back of the piece you are cutting is wider than the front. In truth, this was my problem. I hit the front rail with a little WD-40 to keep it nice and shiny, and gave the fence a slippery surface to try to hold onto. A little cleaning with some mineral spirits and a firm grip on the fence clamp has eliminated that problem, but I keep my eye on it anyways.

At this point, my only regret is that I didn't do this years ago.

5Vega Saw Fence System
By Richard
This is the best fence I have ever used or seen. It's accuracy and ease of adjustment is unmatched. You can one hand adjust and set the lock. I have owned and used this system weekly for over two years, and never had to readjust the fence. Removal of the fence is also a one hand operation, just lift off and stow away.

5Important Table Saw Upgrade
By A Customer
I upgraded an old Craftsman table saw fence with the bottom-of-the-line Vega aftermarket fence a few years ago. This old saw had the stock fence which clamped at both ends. It inevitably clamped a little off perpendicular each time, and no adjustment helped. The Vega fence required drilling a couple of holes, as the existing holes did not match. But accuracy was not crucial; it was easy to square up the fence after installation. The Vega fence does not require frequent readjustment. It is very easily removed for crosscutting. It holds position very well, and returns to the same place easily. The micro-advance feature is unnecessary, since the fence slides very easily, with little stiction. It has held up well under years of outdoors boatbuilding abuse, as well as in-shop furniture making, with frequent dragging of the saw over rough terrain (which usually necessitates a variety of table and blade readjustments). The bottom line: the Vega fence helped make a bad saw into a pretty good one (in combination with top-of-the-line blades, a rolling base, a sliding crosscut table and an alignment kit). If you want to keep an old saw, you should upgrade the fence, if only as a safety measure - I used to get kickbacks and stalls all the time, now I never do.

5Simply Perfect!!
By A Customer
All I can say about this fence is WOW! If you have an existing saw that you are thinking about replacing due to the terrible standard fence performance....DON'T. Save yourself $1000 and just buy this fence. I put it on 10 year old Craftsman contractor saw and now I cut "dead on" boards. The micro-adjust eliminates the annoying task of "bumping" the fence back and forth to get the measurement crosshair to the desired measurement. You simply move the fence to within about an inch of where you want it and lock down the smaller of the two handles. Then you spin a micro-adjust wheel to slowly move the fence to the exact measurement viewed through a clear window with crosshair...and lock down the larger handle. You are ready to go. The fence also stays exactly where you lock iot down, even with a tremendous amount of force pushed against it...very precise machining here. This fence is extremely simple to install and it was perfectly parallel to the blade/miter slot right out of the box. Get this fence and you will never regret it.

The only negative is that you cannot effectively use a featherboard clamped to the fence in the vertical position. Because the far end of the fence only glides on the back rail (it doesn't clamp) any upward force from a board being pushed through, and up against a featherboard, lifts the far end of the fence off the back rail. This is only a minor inconvenience if any at all.

5A nice safety feature for any saw
By Ronald G. Bernhard
I have to admit that I was hesitant to buy a safety feature for my Delta contractor's saw, but I'm glad I did. The blade guard system is actually comprised of the actual blade guard and a splitter. The blade guard is mounted to the rear support of the existing fence by 6 hex bolts. Drilling and mounting the fence took about 15 minutes. The splitter replaces the existing one, and is an enormous improvement. First, no bracket mounting it to the rear of the saw, which makes attaching an outfeed table easier since you don't have to cut a large slot for the bracket. Second, it is attached to the saw by one large spring-loaded knob, which means you can install or remove it in about 10 seconds without fumbling with a wrench. The fence guard is large and clear, and makes it easy to see what you are cutting, and the best part is that you can cut dadoes with the guard in place. And when you don't want it in place, you just flip it out of the way. For those who like to have their router mounted in their right extension table, this would probably not be a wise investment,as it would definitely be in the way. However, for everyone else, this safety feature is well worth the money.

5Incredible value!
By Peter H. Watkins
I purchased my first 96" Vega Duplicator in 1997 for spindle work, followed by a smaller 16" version for doing just face plate turnings. I was building lamps for a hotel at the time, my first "job" as a (he he) professional wood turner. I'm really only an "out of control hobbiest". I did a total of 210 lamps, each with 3 individual sections, a total of 630 turnings in about 6 weeks time. Netted $7,000. I did what the big boys would have done for a lot less money, and all by myself! You usually have to use strips of sand paper to finish up the turning, and fine tune the shapes with hand tools if desired. The woods I used were the hardest of tropical hardwoods imagineable. For that kind of wood I recommend the Vega Diamond Vee cutter, apparently not available at Amazon. If I were turning basswood, I could have made 1000 or more turnings in the same amount of time. I lost everything in the big fires here in San Diego County in 10/03, and finally getting around to replacing my equipment. This was one of my "must have" tools to replace. Very well made. You have to do simple routine maintenance, like taking off the cover and blowing out the dust with compressed air, or brushing it off. And keep it oiled. You make your own templates with plexiglass or lexan, which you cut out on a band or scroll saw and finish up with files or sand paper. They are fun to make, and to then try it out on the duplicator. THis tool is also a fun way to do turnings if you are a bit skittish holding the individual turning tools in your hand. THis machine actually improved my hand turning tools by giving me the confidence to go for it! As you can see, I really like this machine. Have fun.

5Not just a great tool, great support too.
By M. Tannel
I would like to encourage anyone on the fence to go for it. The tool is well built and rock solid. I'm sure it will be the only duplicator I'll ever need to buy. BUT - in addition to that, the support I've received from Vega has been outstanding. I had two questions and received a response on both very quickly and in a very professional manner. I not only recommend the duplicator because of it's quality and versatility (have you seen the attachments!) but because of the awesome team at Vega standing behind it ready to help.
