5Great saw... No regrets!
By A Customer
This is a scaled down version of the panel saws used at most lumberyards and home centers. I have had mime for about a year and really depend on it now. Before, I had to struggle with large sheets on the table saw, which usually required the help of a second person. Now, I can manage these easily by myself. The saw was delivered factory adjusted for precision cuts. I highly recommend purchasing the optional wheels, extensions and stand unless you plan on mounting it in a permanent location. I use mine in the garage and wheel it out when weather permits. On the downside, the material rollers are made of plastic and could presumably break if a heavy sheet such as melamine was to drop on them. Also, it is sometimes difficult to switch the saw from crosscut to rip mode as sawdust particles build up between the rotating plates causing them to bind. I have tried silicone spray in this area but it doesn't seem to last. Overall however, I feel this was an excellent investment.

By John D. Landers
I bought a c4 2 years ago.It was the best investment I have ever made.I need too cut plywood which I do and make alot of cabinets.I no longer have too take it outside on saw horses.I slide my plywood in and it cuts so square I do not have too square it on my table saw.I can cut a full set of kitchen cabinet bases in about a half hour.If your thinking about one go for it! 5panel saw
By Mark J. Krenitsky
I have found this saw to be very accurate, and easy to use. I have owned it for about a year, and use it far more than I though I would. It makes it very easy to cut a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood. It is however not very portable. I ussually measure up what I need to cut at the job site, and take the work to my shop.

4Great Saw
By Stan Wayne
This is a great product. Well made and accurate. If it had a blade indicator showing where the blade would cut, it would be a 5 out of 5 item.I addressed the concern to Safety Cut and their response was to offer to sell me a $200 plus lazer marker. Seems a expensive to me. They should offer a mechanical blade indicator.

1You want a blade with that? It is NOT included
By Saw Man
3 weeks since I got delivery of this saw. You must order the blade from them since none is included with a $1700 saw and it takes only 8 inch blades. Home Depot dosen't carry 8 inch blades. My saw motor came with a wobbly engine. When you put in the blade - of course properly and tighten it - it wobbles. I called and they asked me to go through milwakee's warantee. I am going there tomorrow and will report back. My advise, avoid this supplier.

5Can't believe I lived without it!
By HappyinOhio
So easy and accurate. Yup you must purchase a blade separately because the saw is used for a variety of panel processing applications. My workshop is a tiny 8 by 16 so I can't afford the space required of a unisaw or a big powermatic. The only other real option for me was a full blown festool setup. But with that said I'd still need to move things to cut 4 by 8 sheet goods. I borrowed one for a week to discover it wasn't for me. I purchased the optional stand and length adapters (which can be removed in about a minute) so I no longer struggle with space. So nice. If you're on the fence about this, pull the trigger and do it. Awesome!

5A great bit of innovation
By SoCal framer
This 10" saw conversion beats the major manufacturers' saws hands down. It's based on the Skil77, easily the most popular power saw ever made and used by ALL carpenters and other tradesmen. The beauty of the saw is that it has worm-drive gearing, providing more than ample power to cut through all 4x material. The Makita, Milwaukee and Skil versions all have helical gears (I believe), which are nowhere as tough as worm-drive gears, thus more susceptible to binding and gear failure. A great feature is that it comes with a carbide-tipped blade, again unlike the other saws. Another feature (common to worm-drive saws) is the blade is on the left of the saw (unlike thew others), making it easier for the majority of us who are right-handed to follow that line we marked. The Bigfoot has a better ergonomic feel, again because it is based on the Skil77. The only drawback I've discovered has to do with the finish on the casting of the saw guard. It has a rough finish and very sharp edges, sharp enough that you'll have to be careful not to slice yourself. I would have gladly paid a few dollars more to have a higher quality finish on the castings. I would knock it down to four stars (or lower) for that if not for the possibility that someone would think the other saws might be better (they aren't). Besides, the only people buying this saw will be professionals and they won't be reading this anyway! (My opinions are based on 24 years of experience as a framer, carpenter and contractor) Oh, you also get a t-shirt.

4large capacity ,but needs some design changes
By Lawrence J. Weaver
I purchased this saw to cut heavy timbers for a timber frame project. It is a powerful saw with a great cutting capacity, but it needs some design changes. -The base shoe is very narrow, making it difficult to get a square cut close to the end of a beam.-The bottom of the shoe was not machined smooth or flat, again making it difficult to square with the blade.-When making a full depth cut, the lower blade guard will not open as you cut, you must flip it up with your finger on the lever.

That said, I still think it is a useful saw. I'm also going to be using it to cut I-joists and 6x6 deck posts.

5great tool
By A Customer
This is a great tool for standard 2x4 framing. perfect for cutting 2 plates at once and for cutting all 4x headers. This saw has become a must have for me. I have the 16" makita saw for larger beams and a few 7 1/4" worm drives for everyday use but the big foot light enough to use like a skill saw and has earned its keep.

3Good for the price
By Evan S. Neale
I recently finished using the prazi beam cutter for a large timber arbor and gazebo. I was faced with the option of spending $4k on a Protool beam saw or buying a worm drive circular saw and a Prazi beam cutter for under $500. AS THE ADAGE GOES, "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR." It worked ok, but the cuts were not as accurate as I would have hoped for. Here is my list of areas they could improve on or points to be made:One, the bar bounces around a lot when you begin to cut into a beam so you get sloppy cuts starting out. Two, the chain would not stay tight. If they had used the same system that a conventional chain saw uses to tighten the bar it would be much better.Three, it is not meant for ripping down a beam, it bounces and struggles the whole way.Four, the rotation of a circular saw is counter clockwise which brings the sawdust up to the surface subsequently blocking the view of the line you are cutting on. THIS IS NO FAULT OF PRAZI, just a fact of adding on to a circular saw.MY CONCLUSION:IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY FOR A PROTOOL BEAM CUTTER BUY IT! BUT IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE BUSINESS BUY THE PRAZI AND GET USE TO TIGHTENING THE BAR EVERY 10-15 FEET OF CUTS AND DON'T EXPECT THE BEST CUT. OVER CUT AND THEN PLANE DOWN TO GET A SMOOTH EDGE.

5Gets the job done . . .
By Forrest
I bought a Prazi Beamcutter to trim and notch the tops of 8x8 installed posts that were required for a foundation on a room addition that I'm building. I just needed a saw the would cut the posts square. Also, I knew that I couldn't make a square cut on these posts with a chain saw or with a Sawzall and a long blade. Moreover, I needed something that would work but didn't cost a fortune. With that, I bought a Prazi PR-7000 for my Skillsaw Mag-77HD. It's not perfect, but it does the trick. Mounted on the Skillsaw, the Beamcutter feels a bit awkward, especially when used at a 90-degree angle. Don't think that you can just walk up to a verticle 8x8 post, mark a line, and expect to cut it off square just buy holding the saw steady. You will need to use some sort of fence to rest and guide the saw on in order to get the square cut. I use one of those nifty aluminum clamp-on fences which works very well.My only real complaint is, like Evan Neale put it in his review, "the bar bounces around a lot when you begin to cut into a beam so you get sloppy cuts starting out". The bar actually vibrates quickly from side to side thus making the start of the cut a little wide, but he vibration quickly goes away once the bar and chain enters the kerf. Overall, the cuts are fairly clean and very satisfactory for my job.I find the Prazi Beamcutter to be a good value.

4timber frame necessity
By D. M Mason
Recently bought the beam cutter from Tool Crib to use on old barn restoration. It cross cuts timbers and rips them with ease. Some roughness due to the chain style cut but more than satisfactory for frame work. Speeds up the job 300%. Am now using it to restore a 300 year old home.

3Mostly Good but . . .
By Todd J. Niblo
I likely would have given this stand a 3.5, but obviously not an option. My rationale is fairly simple. The stand/ saw (mine a Hitachi C10fs)is handy to roll where you need it in most cases. It will take a minute or two to get the rollers, stock support . . . set up, but with much less work than sawhorses and some other stands. I beleive that comparatively speaking, the Rousseau stand is far better built than the Trojan or Delta stands. In general I am satisfied. Where I think the saw falls and unfortunately I do mean falls short, is in wheeling the saw around. Going down steps, pushing over multiple extension cords, wood . . . can without too much effort, result in the saw flipping over or worse into you shins. ( Been there ! ) The stand has such a short wheelbase, which aids the stand in tight quarter manuevers; but also allows the stand and saw to flip easier than I would expect. Despite the big tires, they get hung up on more than I imagined. If you can keep the notion in mind to push down low, once the rear legs are folded when moving this saw around, I think it is a well made stand, that will last for years of serious work. For general in shop use though, I would likely build a cart with storage and save the money. The stand definitely helps with portability of heavy & awkward saws, ( which is likely why you're looking for portable stands ) but this one can get out hand a little too quick, when trying to be quick. Good, but not exactly everything I had hoped for.

4Great stand - could use an upgrade
By Pete, Custom home remodeler
First and foremost: this is a great stand. I have been futzing around with homemade mitre saw stands for years without much satisfaction. This saw stand has made a significant productivity improvement for myself and my employees. However, there are two drawbacks I wish Rousseau would address: #1 - There is no place to store the feed roller supports when the stand is folded. I stash them between the table and the folded legs which works OK until you need to lay the stand down in the truck bed and then the supports fall out. Other than that, this is a great tool. #2 - There is no intermediate (roller) support so you have to constantly adjust the feed rollers in and out as you cut moulding down and then get a new piece. If there was an intermediate support, then you could set it up so that both a long and short piece of stock could be supported without adjustment.

42nd best stand on the market
By Toolpig
I have used several of these over the years. I like them a lot. They have been improved as time goes on. I prefer the Trojan MS2000. It gives a higher work surface. I also like the fact that all components fold up into one unit. You don't have to carry any part of it seperately. Unless you buy the ms2000x extention wing which is not necessary unless you are cutting really heavy lumber. I also like the fact that it gives support over a much greater area than the rousseau. With the many cross members on the extention wings , your cutoffs never take a dive. This adds a measure of safety. It also folds up much more quickly. Over all the Trojan is a better jobsite stand. I bought my second one recently and I'm happy I did.

5The best stand you'll ever use
By Toolpig
I've had my 2700xl for a few months now. I must say ," Bravo Rousseau." I formerly had the trojan tablesaw stand for my old Makita 2708. I almost got another one for my new makita 2703. I'm glad I didn't. Don't get me wrong, the trojans are very nice . I love the hand truck design. It's very portable. Regardless, I decided on the 2700 xl. The fit and finish are superior. It provides a wider and deeper platform for more stability. The construction is heavier. The fence is both larger and more refined. The side board is actual formica top and bottom, not thin melamine on only one side ,like on the Trojan.Probably the most important difference is that the saw is not mounted permanently in the stand. If you buy the trojan you are stuck with the whole contraption all the time. Not good if you just want to make a few quick cuts on small material. With the Rousseau you have the option of using the saw alone or in the stand. I highly recommend the 2700xl. ( or the 2700 if you have a different saw ) It makes ripping large sheet goods a breeze. Even if you are alone. It extends the rip capacity to 28 inches . If you require more, extentions are available. The fence is very sturdy just like the rest of the unit. It is very accurate, easy to adjust and very smooth. If you are concerned about the saw moving around or being loose because of not being permanently mounted, don't be. Rousseau's engineers devised a very simple yet sturdy and fully adjustable temporary mounting system. Pop the saw in and it doesn't budge. Pop it back out just like that. It doesn't get any better than this. I also bought the outfeed table. With it even long stock is a snap. No dancing around the spinning blade to complete cuts from the back side. It supports 4x8 sheet goods very well. The whole thing is well engineered and well built. Buy one, it could save your back, or maybe even your fingers.I wish everything was as useful as my Rousseau.

5Best Portable Saw Stand on the Market!
By R. Cade
I bought my Rousseau 2700 saw stand nearly twenty years ago. I am a professional cabinet installer and use this product with my 8 1/4" Makita bench saw. It has been used five days a week, 50 weeks a year for nearly 20 years. It looks awful, there is virtually no paint left on it, the table board and the out feed table are full of knicks, dings, and oops cuts. In addition to use as a saw, it gets used as a workbench, utility horse, mitre saw stand, and lunch table. Through out all the years of job site use, and sometimes abuse, it is still very acurate and holds it's square as well as the day it was new! In my thirty six years in the cabinet trade I've had many tools come and go. None of them can even hold a candle to the quality and durability of this saw stand. This product deserves fifty stars! Thanks Rouseau, you are the best.
