Great pressure canner

This is a very high quality, heavy weight canner. It practically screams, "Industrial strength!" The slide clips and screw-downs securely fasten the lid to the pot. No blow-outs with this baby. The weighted pressure gauge makes operation almost foolproof. And no gasket required! Before purchasing a canner, I did a lot of reading in the rec.food.preserving news group. I saw endless inquiries about sources for gaskets for canners ranging from a few years old to many decades old. It was clear some of these people had spent many, many hours in search of a gasket. Avoiding the need for a gasket became a major criteria for my purchase.I've had my canner for a couple years and am still impressed with the quality. There are only two negatives I can think of. The heavy weight of the canner is a plus for strength and longevity, but it can work against you. The canner weighs 20 pounds when it's empty. Unless you work out regluarly, you're not going to fill the canner on the counter and then carry it to the stove. The other potential negative is the height. This canner requires at least a 16 inch clearance over your range. If your range has an upper oven the canner might not fit.

send me the money and I'll throw it away for you. I received my Grandmother's when she passed away and have more that pleased with it. I can't add anything the other reviews other that mine is over 30 year old it is in perfect shape. I've been told that my Grandmother sent 1000's of cans through this in her day and I intend to do the same. The company's web site is very good if you need replacement parts but I doubt you'll ever need them. I had my local Ag extension agent test my gauge (the original) and it is still accurate enough for canning. This is the only part that should ever really need replacing since it does not have a seal. I am fortunate enough to have the old school Instruction and Recipes book (list price ¢60) that has canning recipes that I have not been able to find anywhere else. Buy this and pass it on to your grandchildren!!!

Excellent pressure Canner, pretty good pressure cooker

I've had my Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry All American pressure canner for a couple of years, and I'm still very happy with the purchase. I can use it to make a humongous batch of chicken stock, then turn around and can that very batch... I agree with the comments made by the first two reviewers concerning its weight, size, etc. This will outlast you and your kids. Very well made, and the company has a full line of replacement parts should they ever be needed.

I give this five stars as a canner, and three as a cooker. The only reason I downrate it slightly as a cooker is that it is so big and unwieldy. If you regularly have to cook huge batches of food, though, this may be just what you need. If you don't ordinarily cook up enough to feed an army, you might be happier with a smaller (say, 6 to 8 quart) pressure cooker (I love my Kuhn Rikon 6 quart stockpot). Also: if you are planning to can a LOT of stuff, you might consider getting the Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry model 930--it can handle 14 quart jars at a time, whereas this one can only handle 7 quart jars.

All in all, a very well made item. Get this and a copy of Lorna Sass's "Cooking Under Pressure", a copy of the Ball Blue Book, and go conquer the (canning) world.

Fits very well

I like the fit on this hoodie and the feel is nice. I gave it 3 stars because it is made in China so I am not sure how long it will last. I hate to buy things made in China. I will not send it back as I waited almost a month to get it. My order was MIA for about 3 weeks. I find it hard to believe that a tracking number could not be provided to me. I ship for a living and supervise a warehouse with Fedex,UPS and truck carriers and have never had trouble providing a tracking or pro number.

Very Thin Sharp Pocket Database and Calculator

I have had five of these units over the last 20 years. They are interconnectible with each other through the side wire port so that a backup can be made to another of the same type. There is also a CD that was available to allow you to connect to a PC with the PDA to update the data onto or out of the PC. This was the ORIGINAL PDA before Palm Pilot and cell phones Folks ! This was an expensive item over $100.00 when it first was sold on the market. I have one of the fanciest SmartPhones there is available and yet I have not given up on my Sharp PDA.Contains databases for 3 sets of Phone # files; Memo pad ; Anniversary reminder with alarm; alarm clock with unlimited times and days of alarms that can be set for years in advance !; World Clock for timezones everywhere; TO DO list that is very versatile with Priority set up; Scheduler to keep you organized!; an Expense account recorder; calculator and a conversion machine for money, temps, speed, measurements of all kinds,; and a calendar with alarms goes out to the year 2059!Has a secret code lock for security if you want. Even a search feature when you cannot remember all of the name or event you are looking for in each category above.Keypad is large an QWERTY easy to type. This machine was the top of the line when everyone was still using 5 1/4 inch floppies on the OLD 8088 speed computers with no hard drives ! Still better than most things available due to common sense simplicity of use. Hope you can find one similar. Some models do not connect. This Sharp YO-170 does. Separate cable for the pc connect. Another cable for 170 to 170 connect. Rubber port guard on the left side machine. Still extremely effective for the busy executive in the 21st century...cannot feel it in your pocket nor does it show in your dress slacks.

Pleasant Suprises

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2H3QA9KFA8TP2 I was pleasantly surprised by the Philips Hue Personal Wireless light kit as it provides a versatile lighting environment which works perfectly for my study area in the house.Attached is a video which demonstrates the lighting effects from the pre-programmed lighting modes from the App. The App is free and downloadable from both the Apple Store and Android Play Store.Here is a summary of what I like about this product :- very easy to install and set up. All we needed is to screw the bulbs in the lamp socket, plug in the hue switch, connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet router, and install the App. The App automatically searches for the lamps and it does not require any other settings nor registrations- the bulbs are energy efficient with an 8.5 W 600 Lumens rating- the App allows customization and creation of your own settings on color and intensityThe only drawback I could think of is that the Apps is not entirely user-friendly and the lack of instructions. But the hardware works like a charm so far.I would highly recommended this product to those who want versatile lighting and controlling through your Apple or Android devices.

Absolutely amazing & Lots of fun

I have 14 of these bulbs now. Every light in one room is using them. Having a fully open API makes these the greatest light on the market. Ignore the cost, because they're totally worth it. I've written a couple libraries to automate presets. Like for example, my server runs a script that sets the lamps to a "Wake Up" preset shortly before my alarm goes off, and it will also turn a few lights on shortly before I usually get home.I can't say enough good things about these bulbs. My only complaint is the app is annoying at times, and the "scheduled" presets have a limit of 100 items. So for example if you're fading in/out a preset over X minutes. That uses X presets for each direction you're fading. Sometimes the bridge's scheduler gets clogged and the App doesn't realize it. I hope Philips will make the app a little smarter going forward, but that's such a SMALL complaint.

This is a must have for any gadget junkies like myself. Hue worked perfectly right out of the box. I had it up & running in 5 minutes without any detail instructions. Just screw in the bulbs, plug the bridge to power & your router. Download the app & follow the connection instructions which is simply pushing a button on the bridge and you are in business.I love the ability to create the ambiance. I have all three bulbs into one fixture. This is great since each bulb can be customized for a scene. As far as the complaints about the brightness. I do not share those. Maybe because I have all three in the same fixture, but found it extremely bright using Energize or Reading themes.I have my hue working with my iPhone,iPad mini, & iPad 3. It is important you first create an account on meethue dot com. Once you have an account, login on your devices so that it shares all your scenes and alarms.Okay, the app. It's not great nor intuitive and lacks basic controls one would have expected. For example, no simple on or off & dimming using the basic lighting. You must choose a scene. But the killer is lack of setting up weekly timers. Yes, you can program a scene to come on and off but only for that day. You can NOT create a weekly schedules as you can with bulky plugin lamp timers.But there is hope since this is open source & developers will soon be selling their own apps. Once that happens, this will be PERFECT.

GREAT PRODUCT

This is an extemely good cd player with a am/fm radio. I'm writing as a person with experience with at least 2-3 other cd players with am/fm radio's. The anti-skip on the cd part of the player could not be better, except it skips when jogging (which can be expected from any cd player except for the new sony discman with G-protection). The Radio reception with this player is superb. Although it doesnt compare to car stereo's it is 1000 times better than any other I've seen. The only problem I've ever had with it is that the handgrip just doesnt stay on and the headphones broke, other than that go out and buy it if you're considering getting a cd player with a am/fm radio.

Good Quality, Good Name

I have owned over 11 portable cd players over the past 7 years. Taking into respect certain advancements in technology and quality, this particular CD player is good for practically every purpose. The radio reception is excellent for a portable player, and you will have no problem putting every favorite station to a memory preset. The Memory for this particular player was also much better than I expected, as you will undoubtedly notice after purchase. I am rough (clumsy at times) with many of my portable gadgets, and this player has taken a couple drops and is still unscathed to this day. I have had very few problems with the Panasonic brand, while having owned over 30 of their products over the years. This is a durable, user-friendly, CD player that has never let me down.

Great AM/FM Reception

The radio portion of this CD player is great. First of all, even if you don't get great reception at first, you can press a button, and PRESTO! It's all better! Second, the anti-skip is great. I've been jogging with it for a while now, and it hasn't skipped once. And I am a very clumsy person, so I drop it now and then. With the exception of my earphones being plucked out of my ears, there is no harm. This is a great CD Player!

Love my Zojirushi!

I bought this practically on a whim after a business trip to Japan, where I was impressed with the ubiquitous high-tech rice cookers I saw there. My wife thought I was crazy to spend [price] on a rice cooker, but much to my surprise she has become a total convert! We are using the machine much more than I thought we would--every second or third night, on average. I've been delighted overall with the cooker's performance. We've made a variety of short- and long-grain rices, both white and brown, with great results overall. I was initially disappointed with my results with Indian basmati rice--it came out too mushy--but I corrected this by using less water. I agonized a bit between the 5- and 10-cup models, and finally decided to go with the 10-cup. I would recommend the larger machine (it is only [price] more expensive) UNLESS you live alone. The 10-cup cooker requires a minimum of 2 rice-cooker cups (1.5 US cups) of uncooked rice to do a good job, which yields way too much cooked rice for one person. In our experience, however, this amount is fine for 2-4 people, as in our family.

One thing I would highly recommend, unless you are already very knowledgable about rice, is to get a good rice cooker cookbook. We've been using "The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook" by Hensperger and Kaufmann, and I feel it has really allowed us to get a much higher return on our investment in this machine. The documentation that comes with the cooker is, frankly, pretty awful and does not do the machine's capabilities justice. For example, you may not be aware that this cooker is capable of making FANTASTIC risotto and polenta using the porridge cycle. You can even saute the onion and rice right in the cooker bowl when making risotto by using the quick cook cycle; all you need do is then add the liquid stock, reset the machine and start the porridge cycle. About 45 minutes later, you have perfect risotto with much less fuss than when using the stovetop method. Polenta requires 2 full porridge cycles, but the results are equally impressive. These capabilities, which are not at all touted by the manufacturer, have been a very pleasant surprise indeed!

more than just rice

Though I live alone, I bought the 10-cup cooker because I wanted to have plenty of capacity to cook dishes other than rice. In the short time I've owned the cooker, I've tried tapioca pudding, a couple of black bean dishes, homemade applesauce, sweet potato porridge, and steel-cut oatmeal in addition to rice. Everything, including cleanup, is such a snap, and every dish comes out perfectly.

I'm certain that most people reading this review will be primarily interested in cooking rice, and they will be very pleased with this little machine. I didn't eat much rice prior to buying this machine, but I'm quickly becoming a rice convert. I'm spending time combing local supermarkets and health food stores looking for different varities of rice to try out in my Zojirushi.

This rice cooker was a big investment for a young, single guy like myself, but it was well worth it. I doubt I could own a kitchen appliance that I would use more frequently than this Zojirushi.

Worth Every Penny!

I recently purchased this rice cooker and couldn't be more impressed. I'd formerly used a cheap (under $20) rice cooker and had been less than thrilled with the amount of time and effort needed to create rice that only turned out so-so. Unhappy, I reverted to my handy microwave rice cooker which didn't produce perfect rice but was at least fast and easy to use. I resisted getting another electric rice cooker for years until finally a friend persuaded me that the Zojirushi "fuzzy logic" model was different.

Not only does this machine make absolutely perfect rice every time but it's incredibly easy to use, clean up and store. The bowl is removable and dishwasher safe for easy clean up. You can program the machine to cook rice and have it ready for you at dinner time. It will even turn itself off automatically and go to the "keep warm" feature if you accidentally leave your rice in too long. It makes every kind of rice from plain white steamed, to Thai sticky or old fashioned wild rice and, like I said before, I've yet to have a batch that wasn't light, fluffy and restaurant perfect!

And, best of all for those of us with crowded kitchens, storage is a cinch. The machine is VERY lightweight and even has a handle so that it can be put away easily (no valuable counter space wasted) when not in use. Another handy stoarage feature is a cord spool (like on old vacuum cleaners) that keeps the plug tucked away tightly (under the machine) when not in use. You'll wish every appliance you owned was so well designed!

Since getting this cooker, I've suddenly been preparing rice over potatoes at meal after meal. Yes, this machine is expensive (shop around though, you can find it for a bit less elsewhere), but it's worth every penny!

Hot coffee all day, fast & easy

I purchased this airpot to replace my old one after the lever handle broke (probably from too much use - we drink a lot of coffee!). I chose the pump-top dispenser to avoid a similar problem in the future. The pot arrived quickly, was carefully packed and came with easy-to-understand use instructions. It is easy to use, easy to fill, easy to carry and easy to clean. It keeps a full pot of coffee hot all day and half the night. If for some reason we don't drink coffee that day, a full or nearly-full pot is still hot enough to drink the next morning. It holds all the coffee from a full carafe of a standard coffeemaker, unlike the thermal carafe I used for two days while waiting for this airpot to arrive. I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys having hot coffee easily accessible all day long.

Dear Durbin (above) thinks he over paid for his Zojirushi, but I have a Zojirushi and I have an airpot from the discount store (I'm sure it's the one Durbin is referring to (about $29.). The Zojirushi outlasts the one from the discount store by many hours. I know I've tested them fairly! The day after I've made tea in both, the tea in the discount store pot is tepid while the tea in the Zojirushi is still piping hot.Also, the glass in the one from the discount store just burst (a very dramatic explosion) and I'm almost glad because now I can go out and buy another of the best... the Zojirushi. And if you're thinking i am from the company, I am not. I have nothing to do with them, they just make a much better product. Something becoming all to rare in our new world... Bravo Z.

Brilliant Phone OS + Tricks for Outlook Contacts & Calendar Sync

Blackberry has developed an amazing phone and an amazing phone operating system. I have been through three generations of iPhone and two generations of Android (my current work phone is the HTC One X) and the BB has a lot of compelling features that make you more productive. What sets this phone apart is the ability to easily multitask between applications and the ability to isolate work related communications from personal communications. There are no buttons needed, you navigate around using swipe gestures. True one-finger navigation. On the back-end Blackberry has implemented ActiveSync technology to enable Outlook & Exchange sync. 10-tastic

I was Blackberry power user and went on to try various platforms like Iphone 4S/5, Galaxy Nexus and S3 while Blackberry was in transition to BB10. Al-tough the competing platforms were eye candy but a huge a let down when it comes to productivity - namely email (unified inbox), key boards, notifications, multi-tasking and finer nitty gritties that Blackberry is known for (example : bedside mode, message compression, attach photos in email with lowered resolution on the fly, exceptional reception, security etc). Last 2 years for me was painfull since I have been patiently waiting for BB10 that has the eye-candyness of other platforms combined with productivity features of good-ole Blackberries. Here comes the release and BB10 doesn't disappoint.The size, weight and tactile feel of the BlackBerry Z10 is a win for BlackBerry's designers and in an era where every smartphone vendor seems to be going towards bigger and bigger screens in an attempt to provide differentiation, the Z10 is perfect for single-handed use.The Z10 seemed to me to offer up crisper images than the other S3 and Iphone 5. Maybe that is because the Z10 tops the other two at 356 pixels per inch (ppi), compared to 306 ppi for the Galaxy S III and 326 ppi for the iPhone 5.Z10 has an 8-megapixel rear camera; however, the Z10 boasts a 2-megapixel front-facing camera , while the iPhone 5's camera is rated at 1.2 megapixels and the Galaxy S III's at 1.9 megapixels. All three have fast processors, with both the Z10 and Galaxy S III running the 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. The iPhone 5 runs the Apple A6 processor. All three support LTE and up to 802.11n Wi-Fi.The Z10 offers NFC for file sharing and mobile payments, something the Galaxy S III also includes (but not the iPhone 5).BlackBerry Z10 is more than a piece of hardware - it has BB10 operating system that offers various services that add value to the overall user experience. Some of the cool Z10 features by BlackBerry are Story Maker, Remember, Balance, Hub and voice control and we would like to take a moment to discuss them as they add to the overall experience tremendously.The Hub acts as the single point for you to check all your updates, like new Facebook notifications, tweets, emails, LinkedIn messages, SMSs etc. If you want to open it, you just have to keep swiping towards the left of the screen till you cross the first menu page and task switcher. It is very easy to navigate and gives you options like posting new messages, emails and social network updates, depending on the service you are working on in the Hub.BlackBerry Balance is a feature aimed at corporate users who want to keep their work and personal lives separate - on their phone. It allows users to store apps and data on two distinct profiles - Work and Personal. Users can easily switch between the two profiles and users who bring their device to office can easily format the Work profile when they switch jobs without having to change any setting in the personal one.Call Quality is exceptionally good with HD voice and reception is better than Iphone 5 or Galaxy S3. Battery has improved by 30% after the first OS update (it better than S3 and more or less same as Iphone 5)The phone and OS looks much better in person than in photos or videos. amazing keyboard

I bought the Z10 and love it. The keyboard is amazing, I was trying to hold out for the physical keyboard but gave in and bought the Z10. I think this keyboard may be better than a hard keyboard. The hub is amazing... like the peek feature... and like that i dont have to go in and out of applications... it is a perfect size and weight. I message alot and found my note 2 too bulky for this. It is much better than the S3 I had for ease of messaging...

I have used scanpan for years. It is the best of all the other cookware I have forsoups, gumbo, and browning a roast than placing it in oven for roasting.

Kirito cosplay

Okay, I ordered this item and they said it would take over a month to get here but it only took 2 weeks! It's a bit pricey but it is leather afterall and it's Kirito's cloak so it's worth it! Although the sash that Kirito has over his shoulder is made out of styrofoam an the badge on his shoulder is too, I would suggest making it out of a sturdier material other than that this item is a 10/10 and I will be purchasing more items from this buyer, thank you!

Another excellent scanpan product

All scanpans are about the same. Well built, nice flat bottoms for use on glass top stoves. This pot is a perfect addition if you want to use a pot when cooking stews/chili/pasta for 1 to 3 servings. Scanpan does make bigger pots if you need.

If you are looking for the perfect saucepot to make spaghetti sauce, chili or anything "saucy" this is your pot. I use it with a splatter screen placed over the top and stir the sauce with one of those beautiful Exoglass Spoons that look like a wooden spoon, but never absorb any color from tomato sauces.SCANPAN Titanium is made in Denmark.
