5Great Moderately Priced Saw!
By James M. Hunter, Jr.
This is the first table saw I've bought, and I have been greatly impressed with how easy it is to produce accurate cuts with it. It takes some time to put together and set up (a few hours for me) but it is well worth the time spent. Overall, setup was not very difficult, but a little extra time spent making sure the splitter and fence line up perfectly with the saw blade pays off. Once set up, the saw works beautifully; it is easy to set the rip fence to the desired width and get a perfect cut. My first project involved ripping 1" thick cypress, and the saw went through it with no problems. The stand is designed in such a way as to act as a dust chute, funnelling the saw dust toward the rear of the machine & keeping it out of your way. The only drawback is the limitation of the rip fence to 30" to the right of the blade, but other fence systems are also available with the same saw. I definitely recommend purchasing a mobile base at the same time if you need to move it much at all. Overall, this is an excellent saw. I would definitely buy this saw again.

5Great Saw!!!!
By Brian Jones
I have owned this saw for over 2 years and have been happy with it the entire time. I use it from everything to Kitchen Cabinet Building to Childrens toys. This saw is heavy for a contractor saw so I would recommend a mobile base if you intend to move it around. The fence shipped with this saw is dead on accurate. When I first got it I would double check the widths and each time it was right on accurate. I now no longer use a tape to measure with this saw. The fence is only 30" which can be limiting at times, however any of the better fences on the market are a simple bolt on process. The blade that ships with the saw is a weak point. I switched it out with a forrest WWII and I now get glass smooth and accurate cuts. One advantage with this saw, is that you can add on to it later. Start with the standard fence and if you need more just order a better fence later. The difference between this saw and the Saw with the better fence will not save you much more than ordering the fence later. All the way around a great saw, especially for those just starting to get into woodworking.

4good intermediate saw
By curt
first off, it is what it is... a 1-1/2 hp saw. not a 3hp cabinet saw. so no griping about power.but do hook it up 220v to get it up to 2hp, every little bit helps. it can handle pretty much anything... with an appropriate feed rate. my purchase was simple, i didnt have the [money] to drop on a unisaw, so i came back to reality and chose the contractors.

the set up was simple with the good instructions that came with it. takes about 3 hours to get it up and going. i was impressed to see that the fence was already accurately aligned. plan on buying a blade with this saw. mine came with a steel blade. basically worthless unless you have a hobby sharpening blades. [Another brand] offers some decent bargains on blades so the first blade doesnt have to break the bank, just be efficient.

my biggest recommendation for this saw is its ability to be upgraded. you can add cast iron extensions, upgrade the fence, even add a sliding table. pretty flexible with a fair initial cost.

my only complaint is that this saw is a right tilt. delta still doesnt offer the contractors in a left tilt. you can get it on the unisaws, but not contractors.

5Excellent bargain for the money
By J. Paul Paris
I bought this rolling stand for my new Delta Platinum Edition Contractor's saw. Putting the thing together only took a few minutes as the product is welded together. The construction on my stand was perfect, each welded seam showed no defects. The only thing you have to do is put the wheel locking mechanism on.

The wheel set moves easily and was simple to level. I would suggest having a second person available to help lift the saw into place.

If you are planning to buy the extension kit, wait until you have both this set and the wheel set opened. You will have to use the long wheel retraction lever in order to properly operate the wheel base. It is located in the extension kit box only.

1Does NOT fit 10" Contractor's Saw
By D. Johnston
I ordered the Delta 10" Contractor's Saw (36-680) and this base to go with it. Both Amazon and Delta's websites say this base fits 10" Contractor's Saws- total BS. The base of the saw is 25" x 28", the mobile base measures 25.75" x 23.25"... waaaaay too small. Now I have to hassle with the repack & return in order to get one that fits. And all this after having to wait nearly 3 weeks for delivery in the first place...

5Simplicity
By Douglas S. Gulick
I bought this for my Powermatic 64A 10" Table Saw and it fits perfectly. Mine has a foot pedal instead of the bar, but I like the foot pedal ok. The 3 wheel design with a single raise/lower mechanism and outriggers to level is so simple. That's what won me over from the HTC and Powermatic mobile bases. The HTC has 2 pedals, which is unnecesary (they also look weak), and the Powermatic requires you to lock down brakes on individual wheels, and the castor could still swivel, just silly. I would highly recommend this mobile base. A small hint to install, loosen all the bolts on the table saw stand so that it can "walk", then lift each corner pulling (or pushing) the leg out (or in). I had mine installed in 5 minutes.

5One of the best accessories for your Unisaw
By Mark Goodall
If you own Unisaw, or any other large heavy machine for that matter, you really should consider getting a mobile base. Delta's bases are strong, sturdy, look good and are very stable. When I upgraded to a Unisaw, I also bought the mobile base. My Unisaw actually is easier to move around than my contractors saw used to be. With a quick step on the foot lever it effortly raises onto the large swivel wheel and the Unisaw can be moved very easily. A quick flip of your foot to raise the lever and lower the saw and it rests solidly on 4 points, making it very stable. This design of mobile base make large heavy machines very easy to move around and manouver. If your workshop is smaller than you wished it was, put your machines on one of these bases and you'll find your machines take up less space and your shop will seem larger.

5will not fit cast iron unisaw base
By P. Cirincione
this base is 1in too small in each direction to fit the old style cast iron unisaw base. get a HTC HSJ-152, HSB-152, OR HSG-152 any one of these will fit depending on which fence you use. I have used this base it is very sturdy and a great purchase for the newer unisaws.

4Versatile Table Saw Addition
By Rob Adams, The Old Rebel Workshop
When I bought my Platinum Ed. Delta Unisaw, I quickly realized that good support was an absolute necessity in ripping long stock and panel cutting. After much research on Outfeed Tables the unit that realy shined over the others was the 50-302 Delta. I decided against making my own table because by the time you add up a bill of material's w/hardware, it was just about comparable to purchasing one. Assembly and direction's were straight forward easy to follow respectively. It took me about 3 hrs. to assemble. The instructions suggest 2 people are needed for assembly but I honestly didn't have any problem's by myself! Here are the Pros and Cons as I see them: Pros: Fold down of the table via piano hinges saves space for small shops Easy to assemble Color blends in well w/Platinum Unisaws Sturdy and supports heavy stock Will fit a wide variety of Saw's Tables are completely sheathed for less warpage Pre-drilled screw holes were matched perfectly J-hook leg take-down takes only seconds to do. Cons: Delta should add an extra leg to bring support to 100 % instead of 95 % The hardware (nuts & bolts)are a bit of a puzzle to properly orient The tables should be shipped in a more substantial box; mine had a crushed-in corner during shipping.Delta should pack and ship like Biesemeyer does. Overall I think this is a quality, versatile and large support table for those of us lacking space in their shops. I would recommend this outfeed to anyone who will be needing solid support of stock but do not need a "permanent" outfeed. Try the Delta 50-302 with your Unisaw and you will never regret it!

5When you have a great Table Saw...
By James R. Briant
I just received my new Delta Uni-Saw and Outfeed Table...WOW! I assembled my new Saw and then it was on to my "extra toy", the Outfeed Table. I figured I'd give my family a break from hearing Dad yell, "I need some help out here" every time I had a big cut to make. Also, it just wasn't safe pushing 4 x 8 Oak Plywood through the saw alone or with one of your kids on the other end of that blade!!! Anyway, assembling the table was a breeze once I got over not knowing whether it would fit on a Beisemeyer Fence System. I read the instructions and called a ToolCrib Technician just to make sure since there was nothing said about the fence (other fences were noted). It took about 3 hours, mainly because I enjoyed it so much. Everything fit and worked just like the book said it would. It is a very nice addition to my new Uni-Saw.

The only negative is the packaging. Such a heavy (and nice) table should be better protected and in a bigger box. I had a small amount of damage on one of the corners from shipping. Also, the manual tells you to cut 2 3/8" off the primary table. DON'T DO IT YET! I waited until I was ready to secure that table and measured the distance necessary to clear the Rear Table Support Rail from the Saw. I only cut 5/8" because I didn't want the "Grand Canyon" between the Saw and the Outfeed Table. It looks great and functions just like it ought too. It's a great deal for the price. Besides, the Outfeed Table is a MUST when you have a great Table Saw.

1Awful packaging, unlikely to survive UPS
By Darryl Ramm
This is one item I would recommend people purchase from a local dealer not Amazon. Like another reviewer mentioned the packaging is terrible. I received mine and the small stationary wooden top of the table was broken into three parts even though the external packaging showed no real damage. This part breaks where it has grooves routed into it across its width, it is so badly supported I would expect it to get broken in shipment more often than not. The movable part of the table top also had some cosmetic damage. Amazon has been helpful but a replacement top arrived damaged as well. I just ended up making my own parts to fix it. The table is actually pretty good and I needed a fold down table given lack of space in my garage.

4Delta Versa-Feeder
By Lawrence S. Petrie
The Delta Versa-feeder was easy to assemble. The only problem encountered was that the overarm end was slightly mushroomed and required light filing to attach to the pivot ball. This appeared to be a shipping problem which could easily be corrected with Delta placing a protective cap on the ends. I have run 4' long 7/8" oak through the Versa-Feeder on a Delta Unisaw and it performed well. It made easy work of a tedious and some-what dangerous job. I am also going to use it on a Walker-Turner 3/4" shaper where it will usually be mounted. The drawback to the Versa-Feeder I feel would be in it's pivot ball and overarm design. It makes it harder to fine tune the Versa-Feeder to the stock and machine it is mounted on. But at better than 1/2 the price of Delta's 1/4 hp model the value is in the savings. I feel with more practice it will become easier for me to set up.

4Great for smaller equipment
By jutrast
I've got to admit, I was a bit nervous ordering a unit this small. Advice from local shops suggested that 1/4hp was as small as you should consider... but the reviews here seemed good, so I gave it a try.

After assembling the unit, and attaching it to my Jet 1-1/2 HP Shaper, here are some comments:

- Delta 36-864 Versa-Feeder Mounting Base provided a much more rigid connection than I anticipated. I thought I would temporarily mount it with this base until I found the right spot to drill holes in my table top. I'm so pleased, I just may not drill the holes after all!

- Adjustment takes some getting used to. It certainly isn't as easy as the screws found on the larger (more expensive) units. I think I have mastered the art of 'tweaking' the unit with one hand, while tightening the clamping mechanisms with the other.

- Once properly positioned, the unit is very tight/rigid. It doesn't appear to flex too much, or fall out of position.

- Best of all, all 10 of my fingers are much safer now!

4Fair Deal
By Rod Davidson
I was reluctant to purchase this because of previous reviews. But not being rich I took the chance. I got this feeder because of a large amount of flooring I needed to do. I used this feeder to resaw 214 - 8ft clear Douglas fir 2x4s on a bandsaw, and then making T&G flooring and paneling out of the parts using a climb cut on the shaper. This feeder performed without complaint.

I have also used it on the jointer with good results.

Setup is a little bothersome because the feeder has little weight of it own and must be preloaded so that the feed wheels will stay in contact with the stock. And it would have been nice if feed speed could be reduced below the 10 f/m. At 10 f/m the feeder will stall a 3hp shaper making a single deep cut in red oak, requiring multiple passes.

5Save your fingers!
By Thomas J. Wilson
Over the years I've seen and heard of some horrible accidents in wood shops. Although it's not a standard piece of equipment in most shops, the shaper remains one of the most common culprits for accidents. I myself once had a piece of 3/4 x 3/4 trim fire like an arrow out of a shaper (the finger boards holding the stock had vibrated loose) narrowly missing a guy jointing lumber and bursting into toothpicks when it hit a block wall 15 feet away. I'm sure it would have gone right through him had he been standing 2 feet to the left. That and a couple of other shaper incidents have brought me to the conclusion that one of the best safety devices you can put on a shaper is a stock feeder. Nothing will ever replace common sense or care in using a shaper, but a stock feeder keeps your hands and fingers well away from the cutter head and they provide accurate feeding, positioning and control of material as it is fed against the cutter. Finger boards, hold-downs and positioning jigs are important, but ultimately it's the feeder that ensures constant feed speed and total control. I bought my feeder with my shaper (Delta 3 HP model) and would never consider running the shaper without it. I do everything in my power to avoid using the shaper "free-hand"; on cuts where the use of a feeder is impossible (such as the rails on frame and panel doors) I have jigs with integrated hold downs that achieve the control and positioning of stock while keeping my digits where they belong... as far away from that cutter head as possible.

This model from Delta is a very versatile performer, can be positioned in virtually any position or configuration you can think of, and the ability to run it in reverse is very useful in certain situations. Mine is somewhat older and it appears that there have been some design changes and a few components have been changed over to plastic. However, overall it appears to be the same device. Everything is very solidly built and absolutely rigid when locked down. However, if care is not taken during set-up a feeder can also pull pieces directly into or away from the cutter head and it will drag unsecured items such as fence plates into the cutter head too. Check everything prior to turning anything on and then check it again... it could save you more than a ruined piece of wood. The only criticism I have of Delta shapers is the fact that you have to drill the holes in the cast iron table yourself. I can understand why they don't drill holes in a table saw top by default, but a shaper? It's not too arduous to do this, but really this should be something that is done right in the factory even if you don't get a feeder with your shaper (the holes would not interfere or effect the use of the shaper in anyway). If your buying a shaper put a feeder in your budget, you will never regret the decision.

4A for Effort, B+ for Execution.
By Patsy G. Umberger
I bought this feeder to use with my Delta shaper and overall works great. Assembly was easy, drilling and installing the mounting base was tedious but certainly within the skills of most. Two things keep me from rating this feeder with 5 stars; the 2 adjusting hand wheels were bent when I received the package,(promptly replaced by Delta) and the locking levers that lock the various adjustments are too short, taking an extreme amount of effort to hold the feeder in place. Resolving these 2 problems (1 certainly not Delta's fault, probably the freight line, but still annoying), would make this a topnotch machine.

5Great small feeder for the money!!!
By Brian Luney
This was an excellent safety addition to any shaper. When swinging carbide that fast, the further I can keep my hands from it the happier I am. The power feeder came with a peel off template that made drilling and tapping for mounting bolts a piece of cake. Take the time to read the instructions, and get familair with the device. The fact it keeps constant speed has made all my door styles/rails and mouldings picture perfect whether they are 12" long or are 12' long. As usual, Delta provides a good product for the money. Plan on spending 1 hour to mount the power feeder. I chose to grind off the front portion of the wheel guard so I could get it tighter to the feence for smaller moulding. Leave enough guard to prevent damage to the wheels, but it 1'4 from the side, and 12" wide mae a huge difference for tightness to the fence. I recommend purchasing a drill and tap set and tapping the table top. Much easier than trying to fish under, get through any reinforcement webbing and locate nuts.

5Better Replacement
By Marv Kratky
A while back I bought a shaper to build passage doors & windows. When I pushed the stock thought the cutters I didn't have total control of the material being pushed thought. Then is the time I decided to buy a Power Feeder, now I have full control of my material being fed thought. The feeder has the right speed settings for my projects (slow). The way I can set the feeder to the angles of force to keep the material next to the fence, and on the table is total control for me. The only accessoire that came with the stock feeder is the grease gun, which is a big joke, thank goodness for the America made grease guns.

4Solidly constructed
By Kevin J. Post
Simply put, this tool does the job. It is well constructed and built for heavy-duty use. I found out the hard way that the only reliable way to get quality cuts is to use a feeder. It's also a terrific safety device. It keeps your hands from getting anywhere near the cutter. Without it, you must stop feeding the material to reposition your hands and results in imperfections in the final product.

I gave it 4 stars only because the gear cover is plastic and the knobs/studs that hold it in place are cheaply made. These items were damaged when I received the feeder and replaced under warranty. The rest of the machine is excellent.
