5Home Barrista Center
By A Customer
We have owned several home espresso machines and this is by far the best one ever. The ability to froth milk automatically just before or just after making coffee or espresso is unique. In most other units it's necessary to purge the water system before steaming milk and then purging it again to regain brewing temperature. In this unit you just press the button and frothed milk foams out into your cup, and is pre-programmed to stop at the right moment. The milk unit can be removed and stored in a refrigerator and the parts are easy to clean. It even tells you when to run a cleaning or decalcifying session. Programable in English and several European languages. It's also easy to make hot cocoa by frothing chocolate milk. Electronic controls dose out the amount of coffee or espresso from a short shot of espresso (single or doppio) to a mug of coffee. It turns itself on and off and pre-measures the coffee you grind and the strength of your coffee. This is an electronic wizard that does lots more than brew a great cup of coffee. This is an ideal machine for an office or a household with a big entertainment kitchen.

[T]he C3000 has the most effective auto-frother I've ever seen. You just fill a detachable plastic container partway with milk, plug it into the milk feed, and press a button for frothed milk. An adjustable plastic valve lets you control the milk/steam ratio to adjust frothiness. Since it's a 2-boiler system, you can run the steamer immediately before or after (but not during, presumably due to power constraints) espresso preparation. My only complaint is that you can't effectively use the steam wand to just steam milk because it is too short and not height-adjustable. With my Magic Deluxe, I can use the steam wand to make hot chocolate, or simply to heat my steamed milk to the temperature I want. With the C3000, if you don't get the milk temperature right the first time, you have to microwave it. Running it through the forthing system again doesn't work because it will scald the milk and also leave a bunch of foam behind in the milk container.

I was also disappointed that the system can't be plumbed in. There are semi-automatic machines ...that can be plumbed in. Also, it has a vibration pump, rather than the rotary pump used in almost all commercial machines and some...semi-commercial machines.

That said, though, the quality of the espresso it produces still compares quite favorably with what I've gotten from commercial equipment. Making espresso is trivial, involving only pressing a button and waiting. Every factor except the water pressure can be controlled to your liking, and the automatic cleaning and descaling cycles are easy to use, once you figure out how to read the manual.

If you want a machine that every coffee drinker in the house can use to get top quality espresso, and aren't too picky about price, this is the machine for you. If you want to economize a bit (and don't mind learning frothing techniques), get the Saeco Magic DeLuxe. Don't buy the Capresso C1000, though. Despite the similar name, that machine is far inferior to the C3000, and also inferior to the Saeco Magic DeLuxe, in my opinion.

5Coffee Heaven
By A Customer
As advertised, this machine is a marvel of automation, with coffee and espresso available at the touch of a button. The unit cleans and monitors itself. It's really quite easy to use; there is a helpful video included with it. The coffee is "crema coffee" which is very flavorful; devotees of drip coffee may find it a bit stronger than what they're used to. Everything is customizable and programmable.

If you've had espresso/cappucino machines before, you know that the milk frothing is a total inconvenience. Not so with the c3000; just hook up the included milk container to the steam arm and you have LIMITLESS steamed milk. Great for hot chocolate (or Cafe and Coco)......

The only downside is that there is more plastic used in the construction of the unit than I would expect given the rather staggering price.

Enjoy....you deserve it!

4No one will suspect anything...
By P. Smith
Arrived quickly from the vendor and was the expected product. Even in 2X there is some tightness in the arms, but should not be a problem. The cut under the shoulders is generous and could easily conceal a shoulder rig if desired. The plaid pattern breaks up any kind of printing and it makes you look like a pretty harmless "goober in a plaid shirt" (in a good way of course). Internal pockets do a great job of holding compact items out of pickpocket range. This will become a favorite to wear in the summer with Shorts. I've only sent it through one wash/dry cycle, but it didn't change a single bit with that so I expect durability to be above average. The "buttons" (snaps) are really clever, only the collar has a regular button and it would probably be better if another one or two at the top were regular so that they could be left undone without the "snap"(feature) being visible. Oh, a final bonus, IF you guys with a 19" neck need to wear a tie for some reason, this is one of very few "stock" shirts that I can button the top without feeling like being slowly strangled. [:o)

4Not enough of a good thing
By ScrabbleMaven
This paper is actually very good. I print on the HP1120C printer and the colours are fantastic on this medium. It is a little expensive and very inconvenient (only 10 to a pack). I have searched but cannot find larger packs. But for printing that card to a special someone, using the right software, this paper makes you look like a professional. Hallmark just might sue! :-)

5I Love this Paper
By A Customer
I don't know why hp doesn't put this paper in a larger size. 10 envelopes and 10 pages - I want to print all my cards on this paper - everything comes out gorgeous. This paper makes the cards look so professional as if you went to a card shop and bought them yourself. I received a sample of this paper in the mail and immediately bought 3 packs. A Great buy, I just wish there were more to a pack.

4Great Paper But There's A More Economical Way...
By Sn2000py
All the HP card papers are great. But if you make a lot of cards, there is a more economical way, while still getting the great look of glossy cards. I did this for my first photo card, because I had no card paper.Simply buy some high quality 8 1/2 x 11 photo paper--like the HP glossy or the Kodak Ultima. The bigger the pack you buy, the more money you'll be saving. Next, buy some colorful 8 1/2 x11 paper in bold or pastel colors--or both. Print the front of the card on the photo paper. Print the message of the card on a colored sheet that goes well with your card photo. Attach the colored sheet to your photo sheet--in the right direction of course--with either folded or double-sided scotch tape or permanent glue that will not show through the paper. Then, carefully fold in half...and you'll have a beautiful photo card! (To make a quarter fold card, just print all on the glossy photo paper side and fold.)What about envelopes? Okay, if there are any greeting card envelopes here at Amazon, I can't find them! But Office Depot carries Columbian greeting card envelopes in both half fold size and quarter fold size. The ones you'll need for the 8 1/2 x 11 paper is the half fold, and the Office Depot number on that is #317358. They carry them in the stores and online. A box of 100 is less than $10! (Staples apparently also has greeting card envelopes in colors.)As I said, HP card paper is great, and it's the easiest, quickest way to make a card. But if you make a lot of cards, it's just not economical to buy a box of 10 cards and envelopes...not to mention, you have to keep buying box after box!

French flour is simply better than American. All our bread recipes went from fine to fantastic when we moved to Paris, simply by having French flour. This is by far my favorite, and reminds me of my favorite boulanger in Paris.

3Mixed feelings
By Jonathan Hunt
The JVC RX-9000VBK is apparently JVCs flagship reciever, and while it is a nice reciever, it does not present itself as boldly as some of JVCs other flagship equipment. This receiver is big and complicated, so I will try to divide it up into the different aspects that I feel are important for a reciever to have.

Frist and foremost, this is a reciever, so lets look at audio quality. I have hooked this unit up to a seven piece two-thousand dollar THX Technics speaker system, and it has very nice sound. Because this particular system has two active subwoofers (a left and a right one), I found the Subwoofer level adjustment a godsend. All of the speakers had individual level adjustment (less the mains which had balance control), which is very nice. The noise level is as it should be in any reciever in this class, non-existant. The unit has many audio inputs: One COAX PCM [or SPDI/F], three optical TOS-http://amzn.com/dp/B00004SSRP/?tag={ucomicscom}, and 3 sets of standard analouge connectors. This does not include any of the sets that are coupled with video. The optical and coax digital inputs are software routable, which is good. The unit does have sub-room output with a second set of stereo speakers as an option, but I will not be using this setup. I also found the DSP effects to be genuinely lowsey. The Pro-Logic mode is VERY quiet and VERY noisy, and the other modes don't do much for me. The built in 3-band EQ on the other hand, I find quite useful, but 5 band would have made me like it a little more.

Next video and the like. The unit has inputs for DVD, TV, an I/O for VCR, also a front video input jack and in addition a VCR2 that is virtually useless. All of the inputs except VCR2 support both S-Video and Composite. Here is one spot where the unit looses points. The S-Video and Composite video are on seperate busses in the unit, i.e. if you have a video camera the uses composite video, all your output devices need to be wired for composite video. Its utterly redicilous. In addition, what is the point of a second VCR connector that has only composite video in? There is none. Very disapointing.

With DVD input you have four ways to connect your audio, you can use Coaxial Digial, Optical Digital, 2-Channel Stereo, and a 6-channel descrete mode with inputs for each of Center, Sub, Left and Right, and Rear Left and Right. I myself could not get my JVC DVD Player to send 5.1 Channel audio over optical and have my JVC Reciever recieve it, so I'm stuck with the 6-channel mode. I am still discussing this issue with JVC, but this is also disapointing that there seems to be prodcut compatibility issues between the same brand.

The unit does have an optical digial out, a feature I'm not using now, but mabye I will some time in the future. Its nice to have there.

Of corse there are AM and FM radio modes, but I don't have an antenna, so I don't get a single channel. Its probably a good tuner. I really don't know.

The manual is an abomination of technical writing. I recomend having a tech-savy friend help you install it rather than resorting to the manual. It only explains how to change settings without the remote, which leaves out the entire on-screen system. Thankfully, the design of the unit itself is good and relivelty easy to use, with a surprisingly small number of options.

The remote is well designed, but has no support for DVD players of any kind. This is unfortunate, because if not for that, I could have actually used one remote for the whole setup. JVC has invoatve technology called compu-link, and once you get by its primitive stages, its very impressive. All of the components in the system I was setting this up in (less the speakers which I've already mentioned) were JVC, a JVC D-Series 32" TV, an older (but still AWESOME) JVC-S9500U VCR, and a JVC BX2000 DVD Player. When you turn the reciever off, everything else shuts right down. When you power on the reciever and pick VCR, the VCR powers up. Good design here. JVC does include a remote sender to add a smiliar feature to non-jvc equipment, but it must be placed so that it can "see" all the other compoents, which can be very awakard. The switching can be annoying occasionally. Changing mixing modes on the DVD player often made the reciever switch to stereo analouge mode for DVDs insted of the 6 channel mode.

Its obvious that JVC still has alot of work to do in the reciever market. They should really invest more time into manual design. Also, at the retial price, its fairly expensive for what it does. If this unit were about $500, it would be a bargin.

The reason I bought this reciever is I thought it would impress me, and to be frank, it doesn't, but I'm not an easy person to please. I probably should have saved my money and bought a ONKYO TX-DS989 :)

4Good price/performance, but it has its problems...
By A Customer
JVC packed a lot of features into this receiver, at a reasonable price. Many of these are seldom used, like the DSP "concert hall" type filters. Others have subtle limitations, but most work as advertised.

The sound quality is great, especially from digital sources. The remote is nice, once you get used to the layout. There is a "one touch" mode that remembers the settings for each input; this is a very nice feature, as you generally don't listen to your CD player with the same settings as your television. The unit itself is very sturdy and visually appealing. You can enter call letters for AM/FM stations, so rather than "92.5" you see "KQRS".

Now, the problems. After it warms up, say after an hour or two of use, it no longer responds to IR remotes (specifically, my TiVo remote using JVC codes). The RF remote still works, though. The FM receiver is quite weak; stations that were easily picked up by my antique Kenwood without an antenna require a powered antenna with this unit. The S-VHS and composite video inputs are not mixed, as other reviewers have noted. The volume control resets to "30" (a very low level with my setup) if you turn it off at a level higher than that, although some people may consider this a feature...

Balancing the flaws with the many features, and factoring in the price, this unit is a good value for the money. None of the flaws are fatal, and the unit generally performs as advertised.

4Above Average Product / Below Average Instructions
By R. Johnson
Has great sound and clarity with the right speakers attached. I found the center channel has to be turned almost off so it doesn't overpower the remaining speakers when watching movies. The radio remote is great! It works in every room in the house. All electronics should have one! The biggest downfall is the bad planning of the speaker use. I have a large room that needs alot of sound to fill, hence alot of speakers. My old JVC provided input for 4 front and 2 rear. This model only allows for 2 front and 2 rear. You can plug in 2 more front speakers to a sub-room slot, but you can only use them in music mode. So while watching movies I am reduced to the 2-2 set up. This might be why the center channel seems so loud. Finally, You might as well throw the instructions out the window. These were some of the most poorly writen instructions I have ever seen. I learned more from trial and error than these useless documents. Luckily the unit is alot more user friendly than the instructions. It is a good unit and I do recommend it.

4Lookout cable, the future is here with Direct TV.
By Joe
Fed up with my local cable company not adding the channels I (and many other customers in my area) requested, as well as suspiciously running lots of anti-dish commercials, I went out and bought a Direct TV system to see for myself. After a couple months of trying out the system, I told my cable company to shove it, and cancelled my basic and premium channel subscriptions with them.

The Direct TV picture is very good and the sound is great. My only complaint about the picture, is that it tends to get light blocky pixels from time to time if there is a big storm in the area. The picture can still be seen during this though, so that's probably a good thing. I suppose it's kind of like the digital version of a snowy picture on cable. Other than that, things look great.

The selection is incredible. Coming from cable, I only had about 45 basic channels, and a few premium channels. I ordered the "Total Choice STARZ" package, which provides the 100 standard channels, and the collection of about 12 Encore and STARZ movie channels. I've recently ordered the HBO set of channels (6 or 7 total) for only $10 more! Now considering my cable company charges $11.95 for EACH of those premium channels, I think Direct TV is the much better bargain.

Since I don't have access to local channels through Direct TV in my area yet, I've decided to keep the "standard" service from cable, which provides the stripped down local 2-13 channels. This costs me $9.99 a month, so it's not too bad. The Direct TV guide suggests you purchase an antenna to pick up local stations, but this not 1970! Who wants to watch (or attempt to record) snowy local channels these days?

I've seen other systems that work with the Direct TV service, but I think the RCA brand is the best. Features galore in this system! Many ways to customize channels, lots of advanced parental controls, you can set up "profiles" for each member of your family with channels they're interested in, and more. Hopefully in the future, they'll add an LED screen to the box, to show the channel number you're currently on, and maybe the local time. Other than that, the box is small, but don't let it fool you. It's loaded with features and gets the job done.

The on-screen programming guide is wonderful! There are so many ways to find what you're interested in. You can even remove channels from the guide that you don't watch (or don't want children to have access to). My favorite feature is the "Scout", where you can have the system search up to 8 keywords. For example, if you're interested in cooking shows, then use your remote to type in "Cooking" for a scout. The next time you turn your system on, you'll get a list of shows that have "cooking" in the title, or description. You can even enter the names of your favorite actors to the scouts, and quickly find movies that feature them.

I believe the RCA Direct TV system is a solid investment for home entertainment, and even a money saver. I was paying close to $115 a month for so-called digital cable (basic 45-channel service + premium channels). With Direct TV, I'm getting 100 channels, and many of the premium movie channels (that I was paying close to $12.00 each w/ cable) all on the $41.99 package! You'll also get a bunch of high quality commercial-free "MusicChoice" channels which cover everything from country to rock to classical to bluegrass! Something for everyone. For an extra $4.50 a month, they'll even send you the Direct TV guide.

Lets see, well over 100 programming options, dozens of music channels, AND a big monthly guide for about $60? My only regret is that I didn't try out Direct TV earlier. It's no surprise that cable companies are running scared and worried about losing customers. The future is here, and I look forward to seeing it get even better.

5Pleased with RCA Satellite Receivers.
By Rheumor
I'm not a big RCA fan in general, but after having Hughes, Sony and now RCA units, I'm pretty certain RCA is out in front in the DSS business. This particular dish & receiver were added because we subscribed to 'DirecTV Para Todos' service (DSS in Spanish) and that requires the slightly larger, elliptical dish. The bigger dish (which can 'see' 3 satellites vs the 1 seen by the smaller, 18" round dish) is also required for the growing number of local, network affiliate stations DSS is rolling out. The guts of the system are within the receiver box. Speed of the processors is now pretty much standard (32 bit) among manufacturers, so sound processing, menu styles and remote control options are the only notable differences, besides reliability and price. My experience leads me to believe RCA has the edge in the last two areas, making this unit my favorite.

5DirecTV, Finally quality television!
By Scott G. Smith
I bought DirecTV in August of 2000 and I have been the happiest subscriber since. DirecTV's picture quality is the best you can get. Compared to cable, DirecTV can give you 200+ channels of 100% digital service, whereas cable gets you 30 channels of analog service. And now that I can recieve my local channels from DirecTV, I can't see why anybody wouldn't want it. If you are sick of looking through the newspaper to find whats on, and to suffer from bad picture quality, then One-Click this system now, because the sooner you buy it, the sooner you can start enjoying the great service provided by DirecTV.

5Stick it to THE MAN!
By Derek G
Outside of the Napster vs. Record Companies debate, probably nothing generates accusations of greed and profiteering more than a simple mention of your local cable company. Yes, all the accusations are true! My "last straw" so to speak was when I ordered cable thru one of those free-installation specials offered on TV. I waited and waited and never received the call I was supposed to from the ONE cable company servicing my area (so competitive!) After calling them personally to ask why, the order taker simply said "oh, we don't honor those offers because we don't need to." "Because you're a monopoly, right?", I asked. "Yes", was the response.

So I bought and alternative and I must say the picture and sound quality of Directv is nothing short of amazing - so good in fact that it shows the limitations of my recently purchased tv where I sacrificed picture quality for a larger screen size and lower price. Directv to cable (even digital cable) is like comparing dvd to vhs quality. There is only one local channel is my area that Directv doesn't carry and I can feel my eyes going "ahhhh..." as I switch from the grainy local broadcast back to their crystal clear picture.

If you just want "Basic" television with only the major cable networks, monthly service runs about $25/mo and gets you about 50 channels. The best deal of the bunch, Total Choice, costs $10 more and you get twice the channels as well as music channels in about every category you could imagine. The selection of music is mediocre at best, but music buffs will like the commercial-free radio. Directv probably has the best lineup of sports networks available including subscriptions to college football and basketball packages, but it's gonna cost you and you still get the same blackouts you'll experience on cable and local tv. If you have absolutely no life, you can get the Platinum package with everything for $82.99/mo.

PPV movies went up to $3.99 from $2.99 recently but I'm sure most people's salaries also went up 30% last year to compensate (sarcasm intended.) The movies offered usually hit the video store about a month or two before they're available on Directv but the most recent additions are usually on about 5 different channels at various times. Directv claims their satellites support surround sound technologies such as pro-logic and AC3 if you have the necessary decoding equipment, but I've had problems getting it to work on all movies. I'm still unsure if it's Directv, my stereo equipment, or the way I have it all connected.

Mom's got the Dish Network so I've had a chance to compare the two. The picture quality is great on both, but personally I prefer Directv's menu guide as it's more intuitive and you can still watch the current channel in the corner of the screen as you scan the guide for other offerings. The channels also seem to be arranged better as well, news channels are near each other, premium channels are in the same general area, etc... Although a special Directv edition of TV Guide is available, you really don't need it. Another nice feature is the ability to "block" certain channels so men can remove lame channels like Lifetime or Oxygen (just kidding ladies, sort of...)

Installation isn't too difficult in my opinion. Mounting the dish isn't difficult and you just have to cut a small hole somewhere to run a cable line into the house. From there it's a two person job as one shouts out the window as the other moves the dish to where the signal strength is at maximum. (Los Angeles and New York residents will have difficulty accomplishing this task without the use of cellphones, Nextel, or satellite enabled laptops with instant messenger.)

Finally, the only point of confusion I have found is deciding which Directv dish to get. It seems like they have a million different models available and I don't understand why. From what I gather, if you plan on getting HDTV or using Tivo or Ultimate TV (Microsoft's competing product) in the near future, you will want to invest in the 18x24" oval dish. If you want local channels but don't live in a major metropolitan area you may need this dish as well (check the Directv site or ask one of their sales reps on what you'll need for your location). Other than that, I say get the cheapest. That's what I did and I've been really happy - it is just tv, you know.

Hope my review helped!

1My advice: call Dish Network
By A Customer
The consumer comes last at DirecTV. The last time DirecTV changed the cards in our receivers they sent a DEFECTIVE product. The rep in tech support told me the first round of MASSIVE FAILURES occurred weeks after the cards were shipped. Despite the hundreds of calls from irate consumers, the company refused to issue a recall. Now they are experiencing yet ANOTHER round of failures, but management stubbornly refuses to issue the necessary recall. I thought corporate America had finally learned the importance of customer service; I stand corrected.

5The best
By Ron Atkins
I have owned this system for over 2 years without a single problem. As an earlier reviewer stated so well, anything that frees you from the local cable company is a Godsend. I love Direct TV and my RCA system that gives me access to it.

The system was easy to install, and only required a simple plumb line (string with a weight attached)and a few basic tools to install. Buy with confidence. You won't regret it.

4A great product but not necessary
By A Customer
It's great for those that want complete graphics on a cd jacket, but you can do the same things with regular software you probably already have like paint or ulead.

5Fabulous!
By Richard J. Engbers
I bought this item strictly from the description. I was looking for a chemical free shampoo that will both add body and managebility to my hair. This product is free of Sodium Lauryel Suffate which causes sores on my scalp...that was my main objective in selecting this shampoo. It is fabulous for my hair and I could not be more pleased with it's total results. It's fragrance of Rosemary is so pleasing to the nose and the fabulous results with you hair make this a fabulous purchase. Admittedly it is a bit pricy, but many times a higher price brings a better product and in this case that's so true. I am a 68 year old man with hair and I love this product and suggest that if you want a fabulous hair thickning manageable chemical free shampoo Tosca is the one for you!

5Nice Value
By David C. Brayton
I've been using this light for a couple weeks and I'm very pleased. I've been remodeling my workshop and as the days get shorter, I needed more light. This takes about 10 minutes to un pack and set up. The color of the light produced is a softer yellow, not a harsh white. (So, if you need light that is full-spectrum, look elsewhere.) The orientation/direction of the lamps are easily adjusted and they stay put. The lamps are plenty bright and at a 1000 watts, you can feel the heat radiating from them.Heavy duty switches and construction. It is rated for use in wet conditions. However, if it is set at the maximum height of 7', it is a bit wobbly. Also, the cord is extremely short. This needs to be very close to a recepticle.26NOV05 A couple of days ago, I saw this at Home Depot for $35. It's currently advertised here for $52.

1Awful. Cheaply made. Terrible Stand.
By Maverick Johns
I bought this based on the positive reviews here. I was let down.1 The stand is junk. If you were to set it up as it looks in the picture, it would fall over (because the center bar would be lower than the legs). Basically, unless you have the sleeve completely lowered, and the legs completely out (farther than shown in the picture), the stand is useless. Using it in any other configuration is meaningless because the center bar is too low (thus the legs don't all touch the ground).2 Once this unit heats up, the lights droop. Basically, the nut that you use to choose the angle gets hot, and then the light goes with gravity--- down (regardless of how tight you crank down on the nut). I've only been using the light for 3 hours, and I've had to reposition the lights 6 times because they keep sagging--- and I'm making it as tight as I can humanly possibly make it. It's just a downright flawed design.Yes, the lights turn on when you plug it in, but other than that, this thing is complete junk. DO NOT BUY IT.

5Great for the Price
By C. Clark
Throws a ton of light. Not super sturdy... it does feel a little flimsy. But in 95% of user conditions this is not a problem at all... in fact, the lightness just makes it easier to position. I use it to install hardwood floor after dark. As soon as they come back in stock I'm buying another for my brother-in-law for Xmas. And... Amazon delivered this product in two days without damage. I'm getting tired of people leaving feedback complaining about delivery... review the item, not Amazon/UPS/Postal Service.
