GREAT FUN!!!!!!!!

We recently purchased Little Tikes 8-in-1 climber. Prior to recieving it, I read through the customer reviews, and from the information I gathered I was dreading the assembly process. To my surprise it was much easier. My husband and I did it in about 35 minutes. We just followed the directions, had a 2x4 and hammer ready and it came out great. The tunnel was the most challenging piece and required the most muscle. My kids LOVE it. This is the best purchase we've made in a long time. It's very durable and of course attractive to children, as all Little Tikes toys are. The only suggestion I would make is that it says for up to 8 year olds. However, I would say 6 years old would be more appropriate. But either way it will withstand any child. I would definitely recommend this product to our friends.

Pure Fun

I purchased this toy for my 2 children, who are 4 and 1. We found this item also hard to assemble at first but resorted to using a heavy duty flat head screwdriver to get the parts to snap together. Once we used this we had it assembled in less than an hour. As we were pulling it out of the box we had 2 neighborhood kids come investigate, and all four were playing on it as we put it together. We have had it less than 24 hours and already have reconfigured it. My main disappointment came from the fact that the "8" different ways for it to go together were mainly just changing where the slides are and if the tunnel is high or low. The system is rated for children ages 2-8, but I think that an 8 year old would be a bit too big for the slides and tunnel. But overall I think that this is a great investment for anybody that has both an older and younger child.

Broad Range of Fun

I recently bought this playground, after much budgeting, for my son's 1st birthday. He is in awe of it and can't stop going back and forth through the tunnel. He also loves going down both of the slides (he can't really climb up to them yet, so I have to place him at the top and hold his hand). One of the reasons I got it was the reputation for durability that the little tikes brand carries. It has certainly held true. For those of you considering purchasing this item, but are concerned about reviews of how difficult the assembly is, I can recommend using a rubber mallet to pound the pieces together, it makes it go very quickly but doesn't scratch or bend the very tough plastic. This playground entertained the children at my son's birthday party, age range 1 year to 9 years, and there was even a bounce house there for competition! I would definitely recommend this toy to parents with children ages 2-6, maybe even up to age 8 as the manufacturer says, but mostly if the older kids will help out the little ones and not trample them!

A return to basics- with Nikon quality

I've been using Nikons for over 20 years, starting with my first used and battered Ftn. Over that time I've a accumulated a dozen Nikkor lenses and numerous accessories, as well as an assortment of bodies.

One thing that's been missing in recent years from the Nikon line is a reasonably priced entry-level manual camera. The cheaper Nikons have tended to be fully automated cameras, and the cheapest manual Nikon still being made was, until recently, the FM2 at well over $500.

If you work the way I do, you need a manual camera and don't have a lot of use for automation and autofocusing. If you own an old Nikon and some old Nikkor lenses, you may want a simple manual camera body that can accomodate them. If you're a student starting out, or an artist on a budget, you need a manual camera.

If you fit into any of these categories, the FM10 is a great choice. It may not be as rugged as a $1200 F3 or a $2500 F5, but it's well made and should last many years. I'm not a fan of zoom lenses for my own work, but the included 35-70 is a good quality lens with a useful range, and you can add more lenses if you need them.

All in all, a good value and a long-needed inexpensive entry into the Nikon system.

Great fully manual 35mm

This 35mm is pretty much the perfect college kid film camera. It wont spoon feed you when it comes to learning, which will really help you in the long run. In the age of "press this button and you're focused", this camera is one of the few 35mm's left that doesn't have AF. Also wont change exposure levels to what the camera suggests(such as AV or TV mode some cameras have), this gives you the freedom to be creative as some shots have a whole different mood if underexposed a stop or overexposed a bit. As for manual focus, it's something you need to be able to do as a photographer. Sometimes the computer in your camera just doesn't focus perfectly on that eye you want in focus, or for something as precise as macro photography which has very shallow depth you're going to need pinpoint accuracy that a computer can not do for you.This lens is great because it's like the vintage 35mm except you don't have to worry about the light meter or any other small part inside of it being broken. Nor do you have to worry about the image quality. The kit lens in this camera is very sharp. It's a bit limiting considering it's f/3.5 so that rules out really low light(but grain can be good, unlike noise in digital; grain has an artistic quality), but considering the price and the quality of the whole kit it's great.Sure you can get a used one from the 70's or 80's for way cheaper, but chances are something is broken in that thing and you may not know until you've invested 2 hours developing the first roll in your class...So shell out a little bit extra and get this, it's worth it.edit 12-9-10:I still like this, shot some street photography with it since it's really compact compared to a big DSLR, but one big con I've found is build quality. It's got a lot of plastic, and I did drop it once which resulted in a huge dent. The silver parts look metal but they aren't, they're some sort of chrome paint covering more plastic. I don't baby my gear so this thing's starting to look kinda ugly. It hasn't completely broken yet though. I said the kit lens was sharp in my review, but really I now know it's not as good as I made it out to be, I recommend a used nikon e series 50mm 1.8 ais which can be had for cheap on the used market.

AWESOME!!!

This is the best camera ever, when compared to others the FM10 blew it away, the FM was much more durable and takes better pictures (my friend has one of the competitors) and now that she's seen mine, she is very jealous! The pictures are outstanding. Built to last and if you're a beginner to a pro I think you'll be pleased! I was just starting out as a photographer and now after 2 years I still can't put it down. If you're thinking about buying this camera, don't, just get it!!

From anything to anything (via a 3rd!)

I have this unit (tho I paid a lot more for it before ... started stocking it! :( )

It does exactly as described, taking an input signal (or playing a tape) in any one of PAL, NTSC, (ME)SECAM and displaying it on whatever display system you have.

Better still, if you're really in the mood for something bizarre, you could feed it a signal from a SECAM source, record it in PAL while watching it on your NTSC TV!

There are also both DIN (push on) and Cable (screw) connectors for RF signals and a seperate tuner associated with both. It certainly decodes MTS (US Stereo) tho I'm not sure if it does so for NICAM (Europe/Germany/South Africa)

Images are crisp for a non-S-Video device (my one gripe)

The user interface is OK, but not great. It only has a 6-programme memory, but now that I have a TiVo that's moot :)

The biggest complaint I have is probably not a factor for many, but it's a killer for me: there are no Discrete power-on and power-off commands (just a power toggle) making it nearly impossible to programme a Philips Pronto to control the power state of the Aiwa. I talked to Aiwa at length, but they refused to provide the Discrete codes, eventually admitting that Aiwa do not have Discrete codes.

It's soon to be put out to pasture in my setup, only to be used to view the occasional PAL tape or to make recordings for friends and relatives in other countries.

If you need to view and record VHS tapes in multiple formats, this is definately a good buy (and a good price)!

Fantastic multi system VCR

Well, quite simply I think this VCR is fantastic. It is easy to use, easy to install, easy to everything. Just pop in your videotape and watch it - doesn't matter where it's from, the VCR decides what system it is and decodes it. Are you a Brit Abroad? You need this. Now you can get all your mates back in blighty to tape the good stuff for you (big train, the fast show, shooting stars, you can't get any of it here you know) and you can watch it with ease. If you really want to, tape your favourite shows in PAL and mail them back to your friends. I am extremely happy with this VCR.

If you are from france, you may not want this item, since according to the manual, it doesn't deal with the french version of SECAM (only the most expensive ones do - that's the french for you, always have to be different).

Other good stuff - it automatically switches voltages, and doesn't have a hard wired power cord, so you just get a new power cord if you move to another country, plug it in, and bob's your uncle! You can take this VCR anywhere.

Now if someone would send me all the Alan Partridge episodes, I would be really happy. Ah well.

Best Birthday Giftever

THis is the best thing there is, This VCR and its technology should be avaiable to everyone, it breaks the barrier of zones and unites the world.

I don't have to worry about the tapes I receive from India, Germany and France ther are all diffrent speed formats but once inside this VCR I can watch them any time with out running to a Video Conversio comapany and waiting three to five day to view important information.

I can record my information in format supported locally by my clients and send them a tape which they can play in their VCR back in their country.

This is the greatest VCR ever, Samsung also makes onebut the picture quality is not as nice as in this one.

DTS, 5.1, lots of inputs & outputs, tremendous sound

I've owned this receiver for 5 years and never regretted this purchase for a second. There are three inputs for fiber optic cable and an input/output combo for fiber optic cable for the tape/md player. This stereo supports 8 speakers: 2 main, 1 center, subwoofer, 2 rear surround, and 2 front effects speakers. I like the 2 front effects speakers because they provide a fuller sound. You have to hear it to believe it. I checked out newer receivers recently and I see more bells and whistles, but not more substantial features or better sound. Check out the specs in the manual available on this page. I would buy this receiver again, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stereo receiver for music or home theater.Added on October 19, 2009: I wrote the above review on November 14, 2003. I still own this receiver and still use it as my primary receiver. It's still a great receiver. I haven't had any problems with it and it still performs flawlessly.

What a rich and refreshing idea - a phone that melds functionality and style seamlessly; it will put a smile on your face when you chuckle at its design, and you will be astonished when you hear how clearly your phone calls come in.I'm not sure Telemania could have sculpted a better likeness of Garfield - it's a treat to see that precocious rascal open and close his eyes when you pick up and set down the receiver. In fact, I half expect him to get up and say, "Hey Leonard! Where's my lasagna?!!" And you know what? If he did that, I'd make him a plate of my famous turkey lasagna.
