Medium Embroidery Hoop has an embroidery area of 100mm X 100mm (approx. 4" X 4") is the size hoop to use for most embroidery patterns.

The Best Aftermarket Hoops

I purchased these to use with my Brother 400D sewing embroidery machine. I couldn't be happier with them. When I got the machine it didn't have a hoop with it, so I can't compare it to the Brother version. However, I do have a couple of types of hoops for another machine made by Janome. These hoops are so much better than those--no comparison. They are easy to hoop, easy to adjust the fabric when hooped, and hold the fabric very taut for embroidering. They also have metal hardware--no plastic! Love 'em. If you're thinking about getting them, stop thinking and just buy them!
