Nice wakizashi for the price!
By Tod
I just received this item today, and I am largely pleased. It has an attractive and authentic hamon, and it has good balance. It came only moderately sharp, but considering it sharpened up nicely & readily-less than a minute-that is not a factor I hold against the manufacturer. The blade was well-oiled, and I like the individual shrink wrap that also covered the entirety of the blade. This thing could've been stored on a shelf in the warehouse for years, and the blade is shiny & flawless as if fresh from the manufacturer. I've received other blades that did indeed appear to have sat around for a while, and small amounts of rust, corrosion, or other imperfection betrayed this, so this was a nice extra, IMO. I like the fit of the habaki in the saya, as it is snug enough so that the sword will not readily fall out, but not so much that it cannot easily be drawn. Over all, a nice sword, considering I've never heard of the manufacturer, and a good deal for the price, as I paid a bit over $100 for it, and I've yet to find a wakizaki of this quality for much less than $200.
