Oh Dear Lord It's Huge

First off, I overestimated my house height. I have three stories (and a basement), but even so, this may be overkill for that. :) Anyways, it is definitely LONG and *HEAVY*. The delivery people called and said they need someone to be here to "help" because they only have one guy delivering it. That meant I had to stay home from work, which I thought was a bit wonky--seems like they should either send two guys or just have the one guy deal with it. It's not like one person *can't* handle carrying it. Anyways, I'm a big guy and thought I could handle it, but this is definitely a two person ladder. Even with two, it's a bear.It's also so danged expensive. I mean, $500 is a lot to pay for a ladder, and I'm sure returning it would be just too much trouble (and probably cost). So I'll deal with it. My advice: just make sure you really need the height, and make sure you have two people to manage it. On the plus side, if you split it up, it is definitely more manageable, but still you need two people due to the length.The quality of the ladder itself seems good. Sturdy--important as I do need the 300lb rating. :) It does scuff up easy, though, but I guess who cares--it doesn't have to look good.

no protective packaging

werners are great ladders but if they are shipped totally naked, with ZERO protective wrapping of any kind, it is inevitable that they will suffer damage during shipping. the first was actually cracked, besides the countless gouges, scuffs and dings. we requested some wrapping for shipment of replacement, but it too arrived "naked" and was also so badly scuffed, dinged and gouged that it looks like it has been used for 10 years. at least it wasnt cracked, so we accepted it as our project was time sensitive. another issue was that the delivery driver of the first cracked ladder told us it was policy to hang on to it until replacement was delivered, but it took a few requests to customer service to get the pickup of cracked ladder authorized. too many headaches! but the ladder itself, along with ladder max stabilizer, worked great for getting onto our 35 ft high roof.

Takes two people to handle but very sturdy

I got this ladder because there are points on the house where there are a basement and two stories to get to the gutters. I am a 240 lb guy and do not like wobbly ladders. This one feels very secure. I suppose you could probably figure out a way to put it up and down with just one person, but I have always used two people because of the size.This is one of those products that you only have to have in very special circumstances. I usually use a much smaller 28ft ladder when I go to other properties to do work.
