Wow! What a sound from such a small system. When I first heard it in a electronic chain store I thought I was listening to a large mult speaker Bose type system. I was stunned to see that was a JVC bookshelf system. My wife was impressed too! And trust me,she is hard to please. The price was a little high so we passed on it. I signed on to Amazon later that night and by chance went to the audio section. Guess what? Amazon had it in stock and the price was a real savings (including the shipping).

So how we're the owners of what must be the most remarkable state of the art bookshelf system on the market today. We listen to classical music and you can't tell the difference between the CD and the radio. By the way the radio reception is excellent!

The system has an outlet for seperate bass speaker and our nephew hooked up for us and it sounds like the musicians are right in our living room. In fact it sounds so good that we got up and danced to some Glen Miller music and we haven't done that in a while!

So a big thank you to JVC and Amazon for bringing some music into our lives.

4Nice sound and elegant design, but will it last?
By D. Tran
I recently bought two systems for my children's rooms. The set is pleasant to hear as well as to look at. The remote control system is complete -- it must since few controllable functions are on the set itself. We are very pleased with the purchase (not from Amazon.com -- I could not wait for the back order). But will this set last? The reason for my concern is that the design is overly complicated, namely the sliding glass door that cover most of the functions and the CD player. The glass door is powered and does not have manual override. To load a CD, the door would first retrack backward, then lift up. It is nice to look at, but I wonder what kind of meantime between failure would this design would have? If the door's motor and lift mechanism malfunction, you will not be able to play CD and access to the functions under the glass door. Also you would need quite a bit of top clearance when the glass door opens; it will not fit conveniently on a bookshelf. I enjoy the sets we bought, but I wish I would weigh the design a bit more carefully.

5A Sweet Little System!
By Carol Alaniz
My husband and I bought this system to replace a huge 10 yr. old component system that has damaged speakers and a worn out CD player. This little system's elegant style caught my husband's eye. The volume was cranked up in the store and the clarity of the music was so good we took another look at this system and bought it. At home, the system enhanced the look of our living room's entertainment center. The sound is clear and the bass is ok, but it could use the help of a subwoofer to boost the lower bass. The owner's manual is easy to read, the remote is fairly straightforward and soon I had the radio set to our favorite FM stations. Playing CD's on it is cool, because the remote or a button on the set itself opens the cover. When the system is off, the cover closes over the buttons so that no one can mess with them.

There is so much more that this system has. You can hook up an external source such as a CD-RW and record CD's digitally. You can mute the sound if you need to and tone down the bright blue backlight. The radio has 30 presets and you can program the system to play random CD tracks or a set program, 20 in all. There is also a clock and a sleep timer in this system.

In all, a sweet system with a really cool look. Someday, we will unpack our old 125 watts-per-channel component system, buy new speakers and a CD player. At that time, this system will go into another room. For now, we are extremely pleased with this bookshelf system.
