Accurate and true

The 99-270 bit set I purchased took a little getting used to. When I first opened the package and studied the profiles, there was no way these bits would match. Or so I thought. After some practice cuts and a little trial and error I was on my way. The bits are of course Freud quality all the way. Mine unfortunately were assembled incorrectly from the factory. (4 Stars) One of the cutting heads on one of the bits was installed up side down. This made for an interesting first cut. After correcting the assembly error, I had no problem making all the parts for a divided light window. You will however, have to use mortises to assemble your project. Overall these are a great addition to my Freud collection. Solid as expected!

This set does not come with instructions so I had to research and also some trial and error. there are extra shim washers on each bit so I was able to adjust the tenon thickness to 5/16". The rub bearings are too wide for 1/4" tenons. Add 3/4" to length for rails, muntins, and mullions. There are several mortises per door so a hollow chisel mortiser is good. These bits make glass cabinet doors as easy as possible. Easier than the 3 piece sets that are available.

I purchased this bit set to do some true divided light cabinet doors. The quality was fine and it did the job. I purchased this set as opposed to another because I had an article from one of the wood working magazines showing how they worked and how to cut the wood lengths so the results would be perfect. Without this article I'm not sure I would have been able to figure out exactly how to use these. No instructional help comes with the bit set. This bit set does not cut the mortise required for every connection between rail/stile/munton(sp) is made. So you will need to make each by hand or with a mortising tool of some kind. Since each of my doors has 20 mortise and tenon connections, I purchased the Dewalt dedicated mortiser.
