It's patent pending design makes core aeration easy and enjoyable for do-it-yourselfers (DIYs) and professional landscapers. Simply step on the platform to insert aerator tines into the ground and tilt the handle bar back to remove the tines from the ground - it's that effortless and easy! Use the container to collect soil cores during aeration to avoid leaving unsightly soil cores on the ground. The soil cores may be disposed at compost pile or flower bed. You may also collect soil cores from areas that are high and dispose them in areas that are low to gradually improve the drainage and ground level in your yard. Four tines may be used in areas with strong grass root and soft soil for faster aeration. Two tines should be used in areas with bare spots and hard soil.

Its highly engineered hollow core aerator tines are very effective at extracting soil cores while creating 3.4" deep, 0.75" diameter holes in the ground. A must-have tool for the home gardener

I live in southern California and have a 1000 square foot hybrid Bermuda lawn that receives considerable foot traffic requiring periodic thatch removal and aerating. I had always paid to have this work professionally done, but was never really satisfied with the outcome. So this year I decided to try it myself. But rather than renting and transporting the heavy professional power equipment, I purchased an inexpensive push tine thatcher that is readily available on the Web or in tool stores, but initially had difficulty finding a simple aerator (one that takes 2 to 3 inch ores instead of simply poking holes in the turf) and is not pulled by a tractor! Then after a couple of hours poking around on the Web I ran across the Step 'N Tilt Lawn Core Aerator 2. Its price was right, and so I decided to give it a try, while wondering if something seemingly so simple was sturdy enough and up to the task. To make a long story short, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The unit's workmanship is excellent. The guys who designed it knew what they were doing. Moreover, it performed as advertised, and is especially good for small to medium sized lawns in the urban environment. With my lawn mildly moist, I was able to complete aeration of the entire lawn with hole spacings of about 4 to 6 inches in 6 hours, while taking the manufacturer's recommendation of using the two-tine rather than the four-tine approach. No heavy equipment tearing up the lawn, excellent coverage, and plenty of exercise! The Step 'N Tilt Lawn Core Aerator 2 should be in every gardener's tool shed if he or she has a lawn. My only suggestion for tool longevity, would be to beef up the connections in the handle assembly, or to make it as one continuous piece. I would clearly recommend the Step 'N Tilt Lawn Core Aerator 2 to anyone wishing to maintain a good looking lawn without the hassle of renting heavy power equipment.
