5Great Surprise
By Harry Driver
Got this thing Quick. The color was lighter than expected. I am thinking of painting this one silver anyhow to match the trailer. It went on with no problem at all. Just like it describes, one bolt and it was on. I did have to put it together and that was another bolt, but both bolts were the same size, so I just used the same wrenches (11/16). Not a problem. As for the product itself, I love it. One small turn of a pin and it's up or down. It takes less than a second to do.It feels and looks strong. One great surprise I found with it was that I have a off-road trailer that I use with my Jeep and it's frame is around 26" off the ground. I have never been able to find a jack that fit the hitch that came on it that even came close to reaching the ground. Even when the jack was cranked all the way out, you still needed two blocks. I have now bought one for it and I bought a piece of 2" pipe, 24" long from a local machine shop ($5), then I drilled a couple of holes in it, bolted it in place of the pipe that came with it and now it almost reaches the ground when I let it down. Just a few cranks of the jack and I'm unhooked. I did have to lift it off before. Not so bad empty at home, but not so easy at camp loaded (I'm talking about the trailer).Thinking about putting a wheel on it now, so that I can move it around easier at home. Not sure what modifying the pipe length does for the warranty, but I really don't see what could go wrong with it anyhow. The foot that comes with it does not cover as much area as my old wooden block did, but it seems to do the job just fine and sure saves a lot of cranking that jack. I don't think you will be sorry if you buy one of these unless you sell cinder blocks.
