Gorgeous and Easy to Stick up - A great mini-project to enhance a room

I took a chance and purchased this Caribbean Sea and Palms [pulms] to liven up a wall in small drab windowless room... and the Caribbean Sea and Coconut Palms really did add life and depth to the room. It's above a work space and sink. It is nice to admire and drift away to a tropical place while standing in my basement!No regrets about my purchase.It is true to measurement 60" x 43" (large but not from the floor to the ceiling large) and the colors are vibrant and the graphics are very well done even viewing it up close (no distortion, bleeding, and not cheap looking).I have a keen sense of smell and this passes the smell test. Very little odor of glue/vinyl and that is to be expected after all it is not an organic material. I noticed it when I first opened the shipping tube and while I was applying it to the wall but it was very minor. It was not bothersome and it dissipated quickly.The material used is a matte vinyl, making it easy to wipe clean. It seems to be waterproof, and there is no bleeding of the inks nor it smudging or rubbing off.I was able to put it up alone fairly quickly and easily by working a section at a time using its own peel and re-stick abilities. I did not peel the backing off all at once. I did peel it off in different areas so that the decal could hold itself up for me on the wall while I worked.Using this method, I had to reposition it more than 5 times to get it positioned as I wanted it, centered, and also to remove a few bubbles I made. The repositioning was not a problem. As it stated, just peel and reapply. The huge wall decal peeled and re-stuck onto the wall without any problems. It did not lose sticking power.Also, a few times the decal stuck to itself in more than one place (as in a huge section got stuck together -I was working alone)... but with a slow and steady grip it unstuck and straightened out without any tearing or stretching. However, I can imagine that if someone is impatient and pulls too hard or too forcefully in that situation it would rip.A few days earlier in preparation for my mini-project, I used soap and water to clean the wall to ensure that nothing would get in the way of the sticking and staying factor. The wall is painted with a white semi-gloss paint.The wall decal material is thick as in quality "paper/vinyl" but not too thick that it would distract from the look (or make it burdensome to apply). My wall does have some bumps and dents... these blend in with the graphic on the decal and are unnoticeable unless someone runs their hand across the wall to feel them.If the wall is a darker color (for example, a dark blue) I think that the lighter areas - like the clouds- would not show as white, but on the other hand the water and sky would take a deeper shade of turquoise and blue!I am glad I purchased this on a chance - without any reviews to compare at that time- and I would buy from the maker Wallmonkeys again.
