5It works for me I am pleased with the purchase

I got the ATEN CS1784A because I wanted to use a single keyboard and mouse to control three separate computers (2 Macs and 1 PC). I'm replacing my 2-port analog VGA KVM because I added a computer to my setup and I wanted to start using DVI instead of analog VGA. I chose the "dual-link" variety just in case I decide to upgrade to a monitor with resolution higher than 1920 by 1200.It's only been a few days but the switch is working great. You get the cables needed for connecting your computers to the switch (audio, DVI video, USB keyboard and USB mouse) but you need to provide the DVI cable between the monitor and the switch. The provided cables are of nice quality. The video quality with DVI is noticeably better than the analog VGA on my ASUS PA238 monitor configured for 1920 by 1080 resolution. The unit is heavy and feels solid. It probably has a weight in it to counterbalance the cables and to not slide away when you press a port selection button on the front panel. It's not too big, either, so it fits underneath my monitor - though it must be positioned off to one side because you need clearance behind it for all of the cables.I noticed there was some hum in the audio output from one of my Macs but I swapped the cables and the ports to prove the problem was in the Mac and not in the switch.I spent a long time sifting through reviews before I came around to the opinion that overall, the ATEN models were best liked for one reason or another. There were no reviews of the CS1784A at the time of my purchase but it seemed similar enough to the non-dual-link model - which received favorable reviews - that I felt comfortable in buying it.The front panel buttons work fine for selecting ports so I haven't tried any of the hot-key or mouse scroll-wheel selection combinations. I also have no use for the USB hub so I haven't really tried to switch that between computers. So far, so good. I will definitely update the review if something changes!
