Functional but not perfect.

This is my first review on Amazon. I've read and appreciate so many that I thought it's time to do my part....I bought this dust collector without the support of other reviews, which made me nervous. I bought it based on the specs that were posted in the description. It's gotten a lot of use in a short period of time and I have to say it works very very well. There are some down sides to it thus the 4 stars.I do not have experience with any other dust collectors so take my feedback in context.PROS1) Works very well. (I use it on one machine at a time, with only a 10' flexible house between it and the machine.)2) Price3) Noise I'd say is very reasonable.4) The filter bag it comes with goes down to 5 microns... no one else seemed to have that in a portable unit.CONS1) Packaging, the way this product is packaged for shipping is definitely insane. By the time I got to the unit I had removed 3 boxes, plus packing material and it all looked like hell. I thought for sure it was destroyed. But there was absolutly no damage.2) The wheels it comes with are a joke. But then, I didn't buy it for the wheels.3) Documentation was pretty much worthless. (Do you need good documenatation on a dust collector???)SUMMARYIf you can deal with poor packaging, and plan to come up with your own wheels/cart/or mounting. If you plan to use it on one piece of equipment at a time with a 10 foot hose. This is a great unit for the price and I'd recommend it.S

This unit has worked very well. It is inexpensive enough to dedicate to one tool. I have it connected to my SawStop Professional, with a Y connector to allow for the blade guard pickup. It has plenty of suction for that use. I have also tried it with my Grizzly G0513 bandsaw, with very good results. I did remove the grates that protect the inlet and outlets, as they clogged almost instantly from the table saw shavings.

This met my needs: I was looking for a reasonably powered and portable dust collector, and this fit the bill (price was under $200 when I purchased). As with other reviewers, I'm using this in a dedicated fashion within 10' of the tool in question. And as previously stated, crazy packaging. It's heavy, and the packaging did hold it in place and keep it from getting busted up. I can't complain too much. The wheels are pretty laughable - I'm not using them. The support frame is nice, and yet doesn't take up much room. Some comparably powered units are mounted on large frames (typically to support the collector bags) and would not have been usable in my workspace.Moving from a shop vac, the first time I powered this up on my bandsaw it found a good bit of dust hidden inside that I had missed previously. I'm pretty pleased with the air flow, and it's not too loud.My key complaint: Where the bag / hose output connector (black piece on the top/front of the unit in the picture) attaches to the blower housing (blue body of the unit) my unit does not fit together perfectly. A portion of the sawdust wants to come out at this point instead of flowing in the proper direction. It's not a large opening, and not a big problem to resolve.+Good price (when purchased)+doesn't sound like a jet engine or a freight train+portable~wheels + packaging-fit of plastic output to blower body
