Beautiful tone

I love hearing my Grace Note chimes. Unlike lots of chimes that sound kind of tinkly and get on your nerves after a while, these have a beautiful, mellow tone. Very well tuned and well crafted. Highly recommend.

I couldn't find any comparisons across a couple of key chime brands that I wanted to hear, so it turns out I had to make comparison myself.Specifically, I wanted to hear Grace Notes chimes, Woodstock chimes, Corinthian Bells chimes, and Davis Blanchard chimes.I only ended up listening to two chimes, because I was so pleased with what I ended up with, that more comparison was not necessary for me.Because of the price, I started off with the Davis Blanchard chimes. They were about $30 less than the medium grace notes chimes, and included shipping. They seem to be of high quality and from a great artisan maker. They were. Blanchard Chimes only come in one general size, which I think would be about a medium in terms of Grace notes chimes.After doing extensive listening to sound samples online, I figured I could live with a medium-sized chime and that the price was right.I got the Blanchard chime in the Ancient Echo format/version, and while I loved the beauty of its tone and the fact that it had more chimes on the unit then the others, it was also quieter than I wanted. It also was not as deep sounding as I wanted.It gives a very beautiful, traditionally proportioned chimes sound, so if you like the angelic and higher pitched sound, they are a great choice. However, it became clear to me that I definitely wanted a large chime with deeper tones.Also, the Davis Blanchard chimes seemed like they were missing a bit of sustain or fullness in each note versus what I had heard at a house near me, which began this whole journey (See below for more on that).They go on for a long time, but as I was to eventually find out, there is better out there. The Blanchard chimes are drilled through at that key point where it doesn't affect the sound, just like a lot of the other brands are.Through these drilled holes, Blanchard puts a perpendicular pin that holds the chime bar.In any event, I was not 100% satisfied, so I sent the Davis Blanchard ancient echo chime back. Teacher fully refunded my money, and that was that.My next attempt was in buying the chime that inspired me to want one in the first place. I went up to the house that I had heard this beautiful, long sustaining chime at and read the little plate on it. It was a grace notes chime. I noticed the "ACDEGA" marking on it and through research and knowledge of its rough dimensions, realized that it was a large Earth Song Windchime.Upon taking it out of the box, I instantly realized that this was exactly what I wanted. Yes, I copied off of the people at that house, but they don't live all that close to me, so it's no big deal.I don't know if this is what helps it or not, but the grace notes chimes are not drilled through. They just have this internal suspension bar inside each chime bar. Whether that explains the longer sustain and fuller tone or not, I don't know. All I know is that whatever they do works. The sound is much louder, fuller, and rings for far longer than the other chime I tried.I also learned that this large Earthsong chime is exactly the one that's in YosemiteBear's viral video for the "triple rainbow" on YouTube. Very funny, but I actually like him, and dug the sounds in the video. They sound harsher in the video than they do in real life. The attacks are more grating in the video. In person they are much more soothing.In any event, the large earth song chime is absolutely fantastic. Really, beyond my expectations, and I expected a lot. They are extremely high-quality, and the sound just transports. It is the reason I was so transfixed at that neighbors house. They just do that to you.As above, I was bowled over enough to end my search.I like the Corinthian bells brand, but at the same time the scale or notes on this earth song chime appeal to me much more than the more conventional notes/scales/chords heard on the Corinthian bells chimes.With the Woodstock chimes, based on looking through their large product line, I felt like they were a bit more of a mass manufacturer of chimes, and therefore wasn't so keen anymore to try them out. They seem like they are selling a lot of $20 and $30 chimes, which I am not interested in.In the end, from these four brands, I am absolutely thrilled with my grace notes earth song chime.

I have been wanting one of these wind chimes for a LONG time. I finally treated myself after receiving an Amazon gift card for Christmas. I ordered the Medium Grace Note Earthsong chime for my outdoor patio. It's very simple style will go with any outdoor decor, but the best part is of course the sound. Beautiful, calm, serene...I love it! I just wish the wind would blow harder so I can hear it more often. :-)So happy I have one now! This would make a great gift for someone too. HIGHLY recommend.
