4Versatile
By kandiamo
I worried a bit about shipping weight but my 70-something landlord brought it up a flight of stairs with barely any exertion and I was able to get it into my room and unpacked just as easily. There are four adjustable vertical supports (that fit my 7 foot 9 inch ceiling very well), four nonadjustable crossbars (one smaller than the other three), two wire shelf/racks, and two bars holding a pants rack. They can be used together but I broke them up into two 35" wide two level racks in two different locations (with shelves unused) Once you figure out the first one, the second is a breeze to assemble. I assembled the second two tiered rack with bar overhang past the support for longer clothes and lower tier overhang on the other side for more shorter ones. Once you do it yourself, you'll know what I mean. The system can also be configured in an L-shape inside a corner. There aren't any assembly instructions so if you're intuitively picture-challenged you might want someone else to put it together for you. But here are some tips: 1. Put the O-ring on the long bar (vertical support) first, then the bracket, then put the next O-ring on and then the next bracket; adjust their height after positioned on ceiling. 2. Spring loaded cap is on the ceiling (not the floor) 3. Put both end caps on, tilt the vertical bar to a slight angle from the ceiling and tighten at that height; pull down on the spring loaded cap to finalize ceiling position. 4. Bookmark the webpage. You'll need it for assembly reference. 5. I have hardwood floors, but f you have carpet, you might want to use a hard plank under the supports for greater stability. For Americans still using the English measurement system that even the English don't use anymore:The shipping box is 13" across X 58" long X 5" deep (to let you know what to expect from UPS) and reasonably lightweightPants rack is 30" outside measurement, as are both wire shelvesOutside horizontal cross bars are 35" end to endMiddle horizontal cross bar is thinner and 32" end to endTotal space max requirement is dependent on cumulative crossbar lengths. i.e., one long unit 8.2 feet (98.5") as pictured or two individual 35" units. There is no "one touch adjustment" as advertised. You'll get brackets that fix in place by a pointed screw and don't slip because of their O-ring. On the plus side, the brackets seemed more durable than those pictured.COLOR: Brackets and end caps are black, pants holders are grey; tubing powder coat is exactly as pictured. All in all, the structure is sturdy for it's weight and simplicity. I love that it can move wherever I need it, or to whatever apartment I go.The reach stick is really pretty nifty, since my top bars are just inches under the ceiling. Retrieving and re-hanging hangers is a breeze with it. No step stool needed. The only two things that bugged me were the absence of 'one touch adjustment' and the nervous feeling you get when hardware comes in zip lock bags. While all hardware was accounted for, sealed wrap bags are more reassuring as tamper-proof. That's the only reason for 4 stars because all in all the product is really very good.
